Since it's basically the same game again....yeah Halo was awesome 10 years ago but it's already gotten it's praise and recognition. It would be like saying the Blu Ray re-release of Saving Private Ryan is the best movie of 2011....

I will still buy it and if I truly like it I will include it in a top games of the year blog or something but will GB put it as an option to vote for GOTY like previous years (Mass Effect 2 in 2010, Uncharted 2 in 2009)?

It's got enough new that I don't see why not, it's not the same as a GoTY release a port. The fact it's 10 years old just puts it at a disadvantage, I don't see it winning any awards over Deus Ex or the Witcher 2, etc.

Only award any remake/update should win is the "remake of the year" one, they've had their glory.

I don't see why not, it's not going to win anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo, but when you look at the games coming out this year, it's going to have some stiff competition, and even those who enjoy it greatly probably aren't going to put it at the top of their lists because they've most likely played it before. I doubt there will be an issue. Though I think it would be fucking great if it did win, because fuck yeah Halo.

@WinterSnowblind: No but I can see the crew naming it along Gears 3 or Forza 4 in the best xbox exclusive or something like that, and that just weirds me out....

It would kinda strange if an updated version of a game that came out 10 years ago would be even able to match with todays games. So yeah, it's fair to consider it but I doubt it's going to win. And if it does win, there's something seriously wrong with this years games...

No, it can't. You can put it on personal lists all you want, just as I could list Fallout New Vegas, as I only played it this year. But it won't be winning any actual GoTY awards again.

 top contenders are: MGS HD, Ico/SoC HD, Sly HD, SC HD
 
but it will probably run into the same problem like the "Best DLC" award.

Any award but GOTY is fine by me.

It seems it got a lot of new features and if it's good enough why not.

It's almost a straight port of the Xbox version so I don't think it counts.

Yeah it should, I remember when The Orange Box won a bunch of awards on gamespot and 2/5ths of the game was old content.

Absolutely. It's a game being sold this year, it should be considered for awards. That said, the only award it has a real shot at is "Best Graphics, Artistic" for its liberal use of contrast and color.

About the only category it could be nominated for would be "Best Remake," which in general is a slim category to pick for every year.

I think a best remake award would be great too.

It would not be unfair to consider it for awards at all, especially for the that it IS ten years old. I mean, if the games that come out in a given year can't even compare to a remake of a ten year old game, then they deserve to not get those awards.

Though, it's a fairly groundless concern because it is so far-fetched. There's no way Halo Anniversary is going to get any major awards this year, certainly not game of the year, and especially not on Giant Bomb, considering the fact that they don't really like Halo all that much.

NO.

It is to soon to tell perhaps it is the greates remake ever. I wouldn't get my hopes high this year is full of big releases GoW3, BF2, Mw3, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Rage etc.. I think most of the press praise is going for those original tittles this year.

Yes if the awards are about amazing looking graphics, A.I.,  physics, features etc. 
GoTY may be alright if they actually change a bit and add some amazing DLC, but still it may not get any DLC at all (other than Reach DLC exclusive for people who have Halo AE). 
However, awards for games is always a tricky subject really.
