The given name to a dynamic system that overlooks the progression and behavior of a player. It then changes the gameplay difficulty to either reward or punish the player accordingly.
A destructible environment means the player has the ability to destroy his/her surroundings. This allows players to use the environment to their advantage.
If not certain demands or conditions are met, demanding workers/citizens may revolt, demonstrate, switch sides, saboteur or stop working altogether. Does mostly occur in real-time strategy games and business simulators.
A gathering of people who believe in the same higher power(s), and follow the rules laid out by the mortals chosen to be their prophets. Video games generally try to shy away from negatively portraying real religions to avoid controversy, however they make ample use of fictional in-game religions.
Terraforming describes the process of altering an environment in order to sustain human life. This is commonly seen in science fiction, where terraforming adds oxygen to the environment, flora and fauna, and even water.
Terrain Deformation is the idea of allowing the geometry of the world to be changed in dynamic, non-scripted ways. For instance, in the game Sacrifice you can cast many spells (like Volcano) which alter the terrain's elevation permanently.
Variable and dynamic simulation of weather conditions can be used to add variety, atmosphere (a rainy day in an RPG) and/or challenge (rain on the racetrack in a driving game) to a game.
