Not long after From Software was acquired by Kadokawa, there's more change happening at the Japanese developer. Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is now the president of the company, according to news translated by Gamasutra.

Miyazaki stepped away as the director from Dark Souls II, though he did oversee the game's development. He was tasked with coming up with a new game, largely believed to be the leaked/rumored/probably true Project Beast.

Dark Souls went under the name Project Dark while it was in development.

I'm trying to come up with some Dark-Souls related joke, but nothing is coming to mind.

I've said this elsewhere, but I'd rather have him developing games. Perhaps he can do that better as President, but I tend to think of what happened with Iwata and Nintendo. The man was a genius level programmer (and I mean legendary level) and now he appears on streams holding bananas. So... yeah. Hope that doesn't happen to Miyazaki.

Sure, he can be the President and still design amazing games: it's real life New Game + mode! I'm so pleased at the growth in popularity of all the Souls games in the last year or two and I hope From keeps making them harder and more intense. Also, to whoever said otherwise, From Software is a badass name! Never change, Japan.

Don't like this way of thinking: "oh someone is good at something we like, let's make him/her stop doing that good thing and become the leader of us all." Maybe it works out well for them, but I think it's dumb.

Demon's souls is a broken, easily exploitable mess. It was revolutionary and awesome when it came out but it was surpassed by dark souls (also created by Miyazaki) in almost every way.

There's a very scientific process we can use to figure this out.

Did one of those games have the Maneaters? Fuck that game.

Did one of those games have the Bed of Chaos? Fuck that game.

While I agree with the sentiment, people arguing about it shows pretty clearly that it's not "absolutely" the best part. Subjectively, yes, at least for me and some others here.

Who cares whether Dark or Demon's Souls is better. They're both fucking awesome for totally different reasons, now let the praising commence!

As someone who watched people stream the Asian version of Demon's Souls and bought the US version day one, as well as loved Dark Souls 1 and 2, all I have learned recently with the Project Beast news is how overrated those games are and how elitist their fans can get. None of those games are anywhere near perfect, and obviously Patrick used the word Dark Souls because Dark Souls is the most popular game in the series.

I know, and I was just saying that as a joke, although I do prefer the Demon's world to the Dark. In all seriousness and back on topic, good for him, it's good to see someone's hard work be rewarded. Although without any real knowledge of what that title actually pertains, I wonder if it's something he'd want and if it's not going to put him into a lot of meetings that deal with budgets and logistics instead of actually designing games.
