J-League Winning Goal Game Boy Review

This is an exclusive release for Japan, and as its title suggests, it includes de Japanese Soccer League. It's an EA-published soccer game that is in no way related to the FIFA series. In the Game Boy version of the game, you can play exhibition matches or play a Japanese League season. In this portable version, you only have only 7 players on the pitch (the Famicom version features teams with the usual 11 players lineup). Gameplay-wise, the A button is used for passing, and also for tackles when you are defending. The B button is used for shooting. The ball appears to be heavier than in the Famicom version, and passing and shooting seem to be slower, what I liked about this portable version is that the goalkeepers are harder to beat (in the Famicom edition, you just shoot with a diagonal trajectory, and you have assured a goal). Also, the gameplay always made me feel like I was in control, it doesn't have that "arcadey" feel that many sports titles had, where there was some luck involved because you didn't have full control of your actions.

If you want a good "football" experience on the go, J-League Winning Goal is a safe bet.
