GT has a new Lara Croft & The Guardian Of Light trailer, and I must say, it's looking quite good. Action looks fast, and hopefully there are still a lot of puzzles even with the top down perspective. Bosses look cool too.If it's around 10-15 bucks, its looking quite promissing. Here's the trailer, what do you think?
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Aug 18, 2010
A departure from the usual gameplay of the Tomb Raider franchise, this download-only game features a fixed, isometric camera angle and concentrates on co-op combat, platforming, and puzzle solving.
Lara Croft new gameplay trailer actually looks really cool
Controls are everything in a Tomb Raider game. I'll have to wait for some more hands-on previews before I decide anything.
Eugh. I'm going to guess that the controls are going to be a nightmare, what with the kind-of-sometimes-isometric-but-not-really perspective.
As a fan of the Legend/Anniversary/Underworld trilogy, this wasn't really on my radar, but this trailer has certainly piqued my interest. The combat segments reminded me a little of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, but that's ok by me. These games have never been about the combat, so if they've streamlined and simplified it to that degree then I think it could work really well. Like the OP, I'm intrigued to see some puzzle-based gameplay, but it looks like this might have me buying some Microsoft points for the first time in a while.
In addition, to all those who seem to think this is a step too far in rebooting the franchise, I'm pretty sure Crystal Dynamics said recently that this isn't really a Tomb Raider game (hence it not being part of the title), and that a "proper" Tomb Raider sequel is also in the works.
Trine much ?

"boobs <3If I can't see her boobs well, I'm simply not going to buy the game because of the camera angles.

" So, why did they call this a Tomb Raider game? Had the opportunity to make a great new IP, but now everyone is going to be stuck on the fact this 'Isn't a Tomb Raider game! Why did they do this to the series?????' and so on. What a failed business model Eidos/Square Enix has. "
It's not called Tomb Raider. We dropped the TR name and called it 'Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. This is separate from TR. Crystal Dynamics are working on two games at the moment and LCGoL isn't the next TR ;)
Instead this is a digital download for XBLA/PSN/Steam and it'll be around $15. You'll get a good 6+ hours out of it too. There have been some really favourable hands-on previews on places like kotaku and d'toid. Eurogamer are also positive about it.
Hope that helps a bit.
