I want to get one of these this holiday season, but I am completely torn as to which one to buy.  On the one hand Marvel is much cheaper in cost, but I am a relatively new player so playing online will probably take some getting used to from what i hear. On the other hand, I am a much better Tekken player and Tekken does have a stronger single player experience.

So which would you spend your money on and why?

If you're a Tekken player that I would probably get the new Tekken. MvC2 is very fun but playing online can be a little aggravating. I got wrecked so much being a new player...

I am not a huge Tekken fan, but I would get it over Marvel vs Capcom 2.  MvC is pretty rough to get into and you will get destroyed online and even in the single player, though I wish I was better at it becasue I would love to get into that game.

It's a hard decision for me.  One game I first played almost 10 years ago versus one I've still not played...

This year, I'm more excited over Tekken 6 than MvC2 (which I already owned on Dreamcast, but it was a nice port so I also got it on 360).  Tekken 6 seems to have a lot of meaty modes.

If they made a MvC3 I'd be more interested in than than T6.

True, but i really don't see MvC3 coming any time soon because of all the licensing issues. Especially now that Marvel is owned by Disney, I really doubt Disney can be persuaded into putting for the effort to make a MvC3.

@Acin0nyx: If you want an easier game, get Tekken 6.  You will get raped online in MvC2 if you don't know what you are doing.

@JJOR64: Dont get me wrong, I have some MvC experience. I just think it would take time for me to get up to par online.

Yeah.  MvC2 is out already and is cheaper so that's a plus.

Marvel is only $15.  Tekken is $60.  If you can afford Tekken it's too much of a stretch to say that you can probably afford Marvel as well.  If I had to only choose one, it'd be Marvel for me.  The wackier Vs games (ie not vs SNK) are my favorite 2D fighters and for my money, any game with tag fighting is better than one without.  If it was Tekken Tag Tournament 6 I'd be torn between the two.

Go for Broke...I mean Tekken. You need to have an established history with MvC2 to really get the most out of that game. That was certainly my experience, having never played it before. On the other hand, I do have a history with Tekken, and am pretty pumped for Tekken 6.

MvC2 is a great game and all, but my vote would have to be for Tekken 6. If you can't get both, get MvC2 a little later when you can afford it.

Do you already have Street Fighter? Cause I think you could get that and MvC2 for less than Tekken when it first drops. But out of the two you asked about, I guess I'd go with Tekken.
