How do I get the Mineral Scanner upgrade? I'm playing through again on Insanity, and I'm at the part with the IFF, but where do I get this upgrade? I totally forget how I unlocked it during my first playthrough.

You gotta get enough minerals and you should be able to upgrade from inside the Normandy's Lab.

Well i started out with 50,000 of each (even element zero) because it's my second playthrough, but it's not anywhere to be seen in the ship upgrades or anywhere.

Talk to Miranda and she'll offer to upgrade it for you. Check under prototypes.
