Before I had my 360, I was looking at some of the exclusives, and it seemed like everybody was talking about Mass Effect. I watched the review at Gamespot and it made the game sound like crap. The reviewer would talk, them as the gameplay would come up there would be action and stuff, but I never saw any action. All I ever saw was the reviewer fiddle around with some kind of retard-o-wheel, and then he would keep talking. It made the game look really slow paced and boring. So, is this game really slowed paced? Or is there alot of shooting and powers and action and KA-BLAM BOOOM POW!!! gameplay?
Also, should I play Mass Effect before I play Mass Effect 2 ? If, I ever buy Mass Effect 2?
These forum really piss me off when this underline glitch happens!!! I want to underline one word, and now I'm stuck underlining the whole post!!!
Mass Effect
Game » consists of 21 releases. Released Nov 20, 2007
Humanity is still a newcomer on the futuristic galactic stage, and it's up to the charismatic Commander Shepard to investigate the actions of a rogue agent while under threat from a dangerous synthetic race known as the Geth.
Should I regret not getting this?
You should get the game, it's actually good, gamerankings gave the pc version 89% and the xbox360 90%, you can't argue it's not a good game because it is. If you want to know the story before the second game, it would be advisable.
I would definitely play the first Mass Effect before playing the sequel. The story is very key to the game and I'm guessing Mass Effect 2 will build off the first one.
There was a dude who made a similar topic some days ago, go have a loot at what people answered there.
You'll definitely benefit from having played the first game, but I doubt you would be completely lost if you just skimmed a plot summary of the first game. As to playing the game, it feels really outdated now, I'm replaying it now myself. There are parts that get really frustrating, like anything with the Mako, and your party AI in combat, but it's nothing gamebreaking.
To answer your question though, it's a typical Bioware RPG. There's lots of action in some parts, of lots of story in others.
I had a slew of reservations before I got Mass Effect last summer. From the numerous reviews I had read, the game sounded buggy, and the combat seemed like it could be pretty slow paced. However, I was disproved and completely blown away by the game's story and combat. While there are texture pop-ins galore, I found myself looking them over because of the games gripping story and universe. I found the combat sufficient, and capable to cater to what the game asks.
So my recommendation is to go ahead and pick it up. It is on the hella cheap considering the age of it, and the beneficial knowledge of the universe/story will be helpful if you're going to play Mass Effect 2.
If u get ME than u have ten time more fun with ME2. Cause u'll be able to screw around more in the ME world. So, get it! It's an awesome game.
" Ugh, nobody is answering my question. I'm not going to buy it because people on the internet tell me to. I wanted to know if it was fast paced or slow paced. "It's an action RPG. The action parts are fast paced, the RPG parts are slow paced.
if you're not a RPG person, espicially complicated sci-fi space RPGs that give me (personally) a fucking headache, then no
if you're an RPG fan and have the patience and dedication to play this shit, i hear its some of the best titles out there.. go and get it
" The first reviews of ME 2 are in. Not all of them are encomiastic... "Thanks, that's my new word of the day!
