Overview
Match It II (stylized as "Match it II", and known in Japan simply as Shisen-shou II, which loosely translates to "Sichuan Province II") is a nikakudori-style mahjong solitaire game developed and released by Tamtex for arcades in 1993.
The sequel to Shisen-shou: Joshiryou-hen - Match It, Match It II features three distinct "courses", each with their own theme and difficulty:
- Fantasy (Beginner Course) - Ancient theme with jewels. Uses patterns of different shapes and sizes.
- Girls (Intermediate Course) - Cutesy theme with alphanumeric characters. Uses patterns of different shapes and sizes. Eroge mode where clearing puzzles shows a drawn girl undressed. Can be disabled by the arcade operator.
- China (Advanced Course) - Traditional theme with mahjong tiles (which can be changed by the arcade operator to alphanumeric character tiles). Uses the traditional closed rectangle (sized 14×8).
It also includes some quality-of-life improvements, such as an attract mode tutorial, updated UI, highlighting of matching tiles, and an undo feature. It also removes the "wildcard" Flower and Season tiles, revamps the scoring system (including bonus points for removing the same matching tiles back-to-back), and adds a new two-player competitive multiplayer mode ("Match Game", where both players race to clear their board first).
