I was just reading through the Mercs 2 Official forums and the word there is that Civilians cannot be killed. Considering they make up a huge portion of the characters in the game, how will this affect you?
*edit* Yes I misspelled 'civilians'...
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Aug 31, 2008
The sequel to the critically acclaimed Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. Now set in war-torn Venezuela, the player again takes on contracts for various warring factions on a quest for payback.
Civilans are supposedly invincible...
unrealistic and kind of crappy, not that the game is ruined simply because you can´t kill everyone it just makes it less realistic.
I don't remember civilians being invincible in the first Mercs, but I haven't played that game in a long time. I don't even Mercs 2, though. If you watch any of the videos on the official websites the game looks extremely unrealistic in terms of physics, vehicles, and all around gameplay.
I'll pass on this one.

Dude what the hell are you talking about? Thats the idea!
Oh and yes there were civilians in the first, yes you could kill them and yes I'm a little gutted you can't kill them in this. Why would they do that? Give us cash or reputation hits but allow us to call a nuke on a city and have it destroy everything. It would suck to do that and not kill the civilians too :'(
You can't kill them? WTF
So when I drop a fuel air bomb on a town there will still be people walking around?
Oh this is a sad, sad day...
If they're going to not put nukes in a game to avoid controversy, that makes sense.
But making it so civilians can't die? They don't even, you know, disappear?
I mean, it's not like the alarmist article in the New York Times is going to say "...the player, if he so chooses, to use nuclear weapons to annihilate cities...but civilians are not killed in these horrific depcition of violence that will no doubt greatly increase recruitment rates for Iran and Kim Jung Il as well as further desensitize our own youth to the local use of nuclear weapons."
Honestly, I think that game devs need to cowboy up and stop walking on eggshells concerning civilians in games. Just because there are some alarmists in the world who don't understand videogames as an outlet, they're going to make things unrealistic. That's a shame.
It's much like Fallout 3. I'll enjoy the game but there were clear consequences for killing civilians and children in the first two. It can be the same in Mercs.
