    The Little Detail

That is what does it for me. It gets my engine revvin'.

Boy howdy has Hideo Kojima always paid attention to the little details in his games, but The Phantom Pain takes the cake. Rain makes Snake's footsteps harder to hear while mist and sandstorms distort visibility. I can call ol' Pequod to come extract me, or I can simply climb onto a shipping container and quickly fulton myself out. There are so many options within this game that I inevitably forget all of my options, and only until I am dead can I reflect on the fact that I probably could've attached the sticker of the soviet commander to my c-board box to buy myself some valuable time to make my escape. I crave the little immersive details within this stealth action game. I will admit the story isn't the strongest, but TPP remains my favorite because of the meticulous little details that run rabid throughout the game.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN has you playing as Big Boss, a.k.a. Ahab, a.k.a. V. a.k.a. Venom Snake, a.k.a. Punished Snake, a.k.a. Big PUN.and it's an ambitious game, even for a metal gear, and before I go into it, I’m going to discuss the previous (only MGS, no love for MG and MG2) entries a little (for posterity and because I think it is interesting). The first metal gear solid was a big shift in the gaming world. Games had previously attempted to have competent narratives but no...
