Hey all. picked up the PC version of MW2 and it crashes about 2/3rd the way through the fourth mission. Any ideas?

Hmmm. Won't get to my copy until tomorrow morning so I'll have to update when I do. Can you verify cache integrity on Steam with a DVD copy?

I hope that's not true for everyone, considering there will be even more angry pc fans out there against infinity ward than there already is. I'm going to pick up the game tommorrow and hopefully it doesn't crash.

You sure you haven't played through the mission again? It might be your computer or video card.

Ive restarted the mission twice and still get the same error.  The steam update option is quite funny with the date reading December 31st 1969.  Im sure they will have a patch and it will be timed for the US and steam direct release.
 
Multiplyer works though.

Mine just crashed, but it was multiplayer. I beat the entire game (in one sitting, no less) with no problems. I don't get it. Although, Steam did tell me my files were fragmented before the first time I ran it. Then I quit out, and ran it again (thanks to my firewall asking what iw4mp(?) was) and it ran fine. I'm gonna verify and defragment both SP and MP and come back with my results. That AND defrag my harddrive. I'm sure 12GB of files installed might make a mess of things for my HDD.

I've gone though alot of the single player, I think i'm getting near the end and it has not crashed yet.

It just crashed  again this time on a mission towards the (no spoilers here )

Ive tried verifying cache and that did nothing.
 
So frustrated

Hey it crashed towards the very end of the last level. I turned down the extra settings, specular maps and normal map, or just used auto. I used less antialiasing and it would load up. It crashed during the initial loading screen, however lowering the settings I still played though it.
 
99% of the game however didn't have any problems.

Post on the official forums, you'll get a more accurate diagnosis there.

No crashes here, beat the entire game today and been playing mulitplayer since it came out.

I had no problems at all.

Guess I am sounding like a broken record now but my game still crashes. Infinty Ward and Activison tech support are no help. IW forums are down for some reason. 
The error I get states that "failed to load 2D texture(set of num,bers follow) ran out of memory. I have 4gb of Kinston Hyper X an 30Gb free on the Drive, I am also running a GTX 275 so I dont know what is wrong.
It even happens in Multiplayer on certain maps. I veryifed the game files several times to no effect. Ive deleted the local files and tried to reinstall to no effect .
 
Does anyone have any Ideas? 
 
I would like to finish the Single player campaign.

Someone said reinstall it and fixed it for him, also in the Steam forums someone suggest this fixed it for him.

to solve the problem "Create2DTexture" select in Additional graphics settings "auto-detect". and after, change only resolution.
I hope that with the next driver remove the bug.

PS.: Not all graphics cards have the problem
