Yes. Ever since I stopped prestiging, it felt like I was missing half the game with all of the persistent character leveling gone.

I prestige'd a few times in the first game for no reason, and if there's actual incentive to do so in this game then I am sure to do it.

Yes.  Prestige is what keeps the game fun, because you always feel like you are progressing and unlocking new things.  If you just stay at the highest level it gets boring because you never level up or unlock anything.
