As you may have heard, Mortal Kombat was banned in Australia. Australian Customs even went so far as to threaten fines for people importing the game after confiscating their copies.
It was all talk.
Myself and a metric arseload of other Australians have had no problems getting our copies. I have heard not a single report of people losing their copies to Customs or being fined. Not one. I even heard one guy had his copy had the words 'Mortal Kombat' on the outside of the mail parcel. It still got through. Customs' threats were not only empty, they were irresponsible.
As far as getting online in concerned, the default online pass code for Australians doesn't work as the code can only be redeemd in the country of purchase. But there were ways around that. I ordered my copy form the UK so I simply set up a UK hotmail account. All Hotmail wanted was (1) where the in UK I was - I put England and (2) my post code - I used the House Of Commons. And hey presto! A UK Xbox Live account.
All I did then was download the online pass on my UK account and bingo, it was there on my hard drive. Free for my Aus account to use. And since I'm seeing plenty of MP rooms entitled AUSTRALIA, I guess I'm not the only one to do this.
Just thought all you non-Australians should know that we're totally okay over here. Or to put it in America-talk: YO DAWG IT AINT NO THANG WE GOT MAD FATALITIES UP IN THIS BITCH.
