Mugen can be considered to have somewhat of an antihero type personality. He is also a womanizer. He was born in the Penal Japanese colony, or in the Ryukyu islands. His name means infinite or eternity. His sword fighting is consists of very erratic type movements and is comparable to break dancing. He is able to make up his own moves as he fights. It seems that the more powerful the opponent that he is facing, the more erratic and unpredictable his movements become. He seems to have trouble fighting in small spaces. His hair has been compared to being similar to Spike Spiegel, one of the main protagonist from the anime, Cowboy Bebop.
