Apparently this game is locked at 30 on PS4 on both XB1. Not that surprising given that it takes a year or two for devs to get a handle on a new system. (And that the systems aren't as powerful as we might have hoped). That's not good but whatever. The more interesting news is that the game is locked at 30 even on PC. PC!? I'm not sure whether they're intentionally holding the game back or it is really too busy to handle everything that's going on in the game at 60fps but if that's the case then better optimization needs to happen.
Need for Speed Rivals
Game » consists of 12 releases. Released Nov 15, 2013
A cross-gen open-world driving game set in a fictional Redview County.
Locked at 30 no matter the platform
Kotaku and Polygon said the PS4 and PC versions look the same. I guess PC is not a priority in EA's eyes.
30 is a no no for racing games.

EA hates PC with all its heart (if it had one)
There's no justification for a 30 FPS lock on PC at least in my mind; if it's related to their technology then they should take the time to fix it rather than release a lazy port. Unfortunately this could mean that when people find a way to unlock the FPS, that the game gets buggy or runs incorrectly because the developers never tested it above 30 FPS. Even if the game somehow pushes current PC hardware to its limits with 30 FPS, in a couple years most PCs will be way above specs but will still be stuck with the same limited 30 FPS experience.
It certainly does not make me feel confident in the quality of this release when I see them making a decision like this.
The average PC will eventually catch up to the specs required by the game for a stellar experience. Five years from now, when this game encounters PC's with GTX 1300 and HD Radeon 14000 series cards, the owner is not going to be happy.
There is no excuse. Whatever justification the developers and publishers give will not stand the test of time.

This is all payback for PC gamers not buying Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Locked framerates on PC are an instant no-buy from me. There is literally no justification they can give for it.
@jayjonesjunior: seriously. what are these devs thinking? oh wait, they're not....
Calm down, on PC someone will just figure out how to unlock it, like they did with LA Noire and Dark Souls.
It it aint 60 i don't touch it.
I like my women like i like my frame rates! 60+!
Maybe they looked at Most Wanted (which performes very poorly on PC, even today) and said: "We are not even trying to optimize it for PC, because we have to make 5 versions of this game."
I assume they just ran out of time.

Eh, I played Most Wanted the other day and it ran pretty well (was horrible at launch). Hopefully they sort it out, it is after all running on Frostbite 3 which runs amazingly on PC.
It costs around 70 euros here in Germany if you want it on the next gen systems.. I guess I´ll wait till it´s cheaper on PC.
Makes no sense to buy multiplat stuff on the consoles if the prices are this ridiculous.
It's no longer locked on PC...

What does the top of the page mean when it says "cross-gen"?
I thought it'd be the "Buy a PS3 version of this game and update it to a digital PS4 version with 10 dollars" thing, but apparently this isn't included in that list, so I'm guessing it just means the game's released on both "old" and current consoles. I think(?) it was that and the 'split-gen' term, that the crew has discussed about in Bombcast a few times.

I'm considering changing it if nobody minds. It somehow does not strike me as intelligible to say "cross-gen". (see also "cross-platform" and "multiplatform", the latter being a more appropriate meaning in this case)
Just for the record, the PS3/360 version and PS4/One versions are the same game?
It's EA they will probably have a $9.99 addon later for 60FPS.
Most games won't even give you 60 fps for all the $9.99's in the world.

gross
@counterclockwork87: Was about to say. On PC it's more like "30 is the default".
Oh and apparently it's unlocked anyway.
Wouldn't you be able to unlock that sort of thing in .ini files anyway? I dont know much about computers so I'm not an authority on the subject.
Also cross-gen is more descriptive than split-gen in my mind. The game isn't being split across generations, it has different versions that cross from one gen to the next.
