It's easy to say they picked the wrong NHL game to give some QL time to, but if it's Alex at the helm explaining "this franchise was boss on PS2 but is now all but irrelevant", it should be okay. 
 
2K Sports literally threw in the towel for a year on 360/PS3 because EA's games are so much better.  NHL Slapshot will probably be better than NHL 2K11 as well.  If nothing else, it'll probably outsell it because the cover has that damn Wayne Gretzky you kids seem to like so much.

They're not showing it because it's the definitive hockey game, they're probably showing it because they were sent a copy, or someone in the GB office picked it up.

eh.  forsberg's arguably already done that.  see: the last 4 years.  he's totally been lemieuxing it in that he's still got a sick points-per-game, but he's out of the lineup so much that he's just disappointing. "

how is it not a good thing, he's the last of the Sakics, Yzermans... classy guy playing for the team he grew up watching, (i'm a Stars fan) and i have no problem with it (only problem with how Stars management went about kicking him to the curb) 
he can still produce, still be good, put butts in the seats, If it is his final season, then so be it.

I played NHL 2K10 on the Wii. It was a horrible game. The only good thing about it was the 3 vs 3 mode. That's it. I'm not getting this game.

i think if i hadn't made such a snarky title for the thread and if people would read the whole thing before commenting, fewer people would be mad at me. 
 
all i ever meant was that i hope that them giving 2K's hockey game a QL doesn't encourage GB users to buy an entry what is nearly universally recognized as the second best hockey franchise.  i'm glad they're doing a QL for a hockey game; i just hope it doesn't leave the wrong impression on the GB community, especially if they don't give NHL 11 or NHL Slapshot a QL (and i don't expect they will). 
 
if jeff and ryan do the QL and one of them ends it by saying "well...if you like hockey and you have a wii....maybe pick this up?", then it'll be a great disservice to anybody with a slight interest in hockey who might not be enough of a fan to know what's been going on in hockey video games since the previous generation of consoles.  if alex is involved in the QL, though, i expect it'll be a better-informed video...which is arguably better for everybody.  i might even be wrong about alex, maybe he hasn't played a single hockey game since he worked at gamespot. 
 
ultimately, despite all the wonderful antics the crew get themselves involved in by not just dryly covering every game released, part of what the editorial staff is there for is to provide reasonable recommendations and accurate information to the end consumer.
 
i was surprised that they were giving any NHL game a quick look and i thought it was weird that they picked what most critics agree is the second best franchise.  it's that simple.  i don't think voicing that sentiment on the forums is even close to despicable.  but what do i know, eh? 
 
edit: lol, i really can't express how frustrated i am with people assuming that this is in any way comparable to someone who's way into BF:BC2 hating on MW2 or vice versa.  metacritic scores:

2K9 and 2K10 were the only NHL games on the Wii and pretty much the only hockey games for Wii.  NHL 2K7/07 was when 2K's games started to lose their dominance in the hockey simulation market, but the two franchises ended up about even that year in terms of critical reception.  i'm not trying to shit all over 2K Sports.  i eagerly went out and bought NHL 2K6 the first week it was out and i bought an xbox 360 mostly to play 2K's first entry on the next generation of consoles.  it's simply the case that EA is back on top after a few years of 2K shipping a better product. 
 
i feel like i'm spending more time, energy, and attention on this than it deserves.  i think everyone thinks i'm outraged or something.

I love that you are annoyed that a gaming site tries a game and records their thoughts on video.
 
If anything, this video would scare people away from the game because they didn't really know how to play it and made fun of it for that.  All they did was go into a game, play it for a few minutes, didn't know how to do Wii MotionPlus controls correctly (because they likely didn't go through the tutorial which is buried in the menus), and then they made fun of the UI

EA doesn't make a hockey game for the Wii. 2k does. So if you only own the Wii then you will care about the hockey game for it. You're an idiot.
