Now that is a reason to look forward to E3, can't wait.

“We wanted to give the gaming industry a head’s up about what to expect from Nintendo at E3. We’ll invite people to play with the new device then.” - Ken Toyoda, chief spokesman at Nintendo

There are so many big things Nintendo could implement in this year's conference. However, judging from their last one, more than half of it will probably just be on the show floor, with the conference reserved for non-gaming-press.

It sounds like a cute little feature. I expect something not too big, but innovative nonetheless.

It's kinda dumb to announce the new DS now, instead of waiting for E3 IMO. I was going to get a XL, but now i'm just going to wait for the 3DS..

EDIT: But awesome that it'll be playable so soon. looking foward to seeing how it looks.

Well it has been ready for a while now, they wouldn't have sent out development kits months ago if it wasn't.  What will be interesting to see is what software they'll choose to showcase it - will it be a demo of a new game in a classic series, or a tech demo?.

I am completely confident in Nintendo's ability to create awesome handheld systems and I expect to be impressed.  Can't wait.

The cynic in me can't wait to see how Sony is going to take the technology and improve it.
