    The Otomedius franchise is a shmup series using Konami's own Gradius series as its basis.

    The game follows around Angel Squadron, a mostly female unit which continues fighting the original space war from the Gradius series. Playable characters ride out in mini-ship mechas called Riding Vipers which are inspired by Gradius ships and pilots who are inspired by the look of classic Konami games.

    Characters are designed by Mine Yoshizaki, author of the Sgt. Frog manga.
