The 3rd Penny Arcade Adventure has been announced at PAX Prime. Its being developed by Zepoyd Games, the people behind Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World. I sad its not being made by Hothead Games this time around, but I love the humor of the first two games so I'm really pumped to play this.
Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Jun 25, 2012
Penny Arcade Adventures continues the PA Adventures series as a 16-bit RPG developed by Zeboyd Games.
Who else is excited for this?
OH SHIT!
SAY WHAT?!
@wasteguru: Is Jerry writing it? If not, that sucks. I didn't find Zepoyd's other games funny at all.
I'd rather they stuck with the original engine and finished it how it was supposed to be. Now it's gonna be really heard to go from 1-2 into 3. I'd probably just skip it. I didn't care for what I saw of Cthulhu.
@AltonBrown: I doubt Jerry would let anyone else write his game. Rainslick is something they feel they own and love, as evidenced by them continuing the story after the games stopped the first time.
Sorry dude, they said its going to be in a 16-bit style. While I am excited for a new Penny Arcade adventure I really dislike the pixel-centric style of both Cthulu saves the world and Breathe of death, hopefully the use of it is only for this promotional material and not the final product.
I played those games for the humour rather than the functionality, because in that department it left things to be desired. With that said, the second game really felt like it was on to something with the combat and felt much tighter than the first.
And also bleh. I seriously dislike this art style. it doesn't make sense to go from looking like a web comic to looking like a SNES game, considering this is based on a web comic.
I have still yet to pick up episode 2....I will at some point though. I think I would prefer for 3 to be in the same style as the first 2, but at least it is getting made.
This is so gotten it is get.
Don't think the change in style will affect the experience too much, I believe they'll be more than capable of conveying the things that made the first two games great.
I bought the first two during the summer steam sale and loved the hell out of them. I really am excited for a third.
