Atlus jumped into the social game space with another version of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3. Persona 3 Social lets players collect personas on their cell phones through Mobage-town, a Japanese social network service that’s exclusive to mobile phones.

Players can take on quests and battle shadows with other players. Like most social games, Persona 3 Socialis free to play. Atlus plans on monetizing the game through item transactions.

If you played any version of Persona 3 you probably noticed the main charaters are different. Shigenori Soejima, the art director onPersona 3 and Persona 4, created new ones just for Persona 3 Social. Service for the game started today.

It's so weird that they've "exploited" Persona 3 this much.  We definitely won't see this in the West but I'm sure it'll do just fine, profit wise, over there.

For the love of...yeah Persona 3 was awesome, BUT MOVE ON ALREADY! How about a remake of Persona 2? Or maybe Persona 4 FES? Or, hell, just put all your time into Persona 5!

My prediction is that this will be the last thing they ever do with Persona 3.  Next: Persona 4.

Meh, it's just a shitty cellphone game. Also why do they need the connection to P3 if they made new (rather generic looking) characters? Same thing with the anime; I guess they're milking P3 for all it's worth.

They have cold feet about stepping their games up for current gen consoles and I get that. It seems to me like they're stalling until the 3DS comes out. Keep in mind, the last Dragon Quest came out for DS. Anyone who thinks P5 has to be on a console is just lying to themselves. And if on top of that you insist it has to be on a Sony console, you're even more fargone.

So can i play this on my iphone? does it have mulitiplayer? AND IS THIS THE SHIT THAT IS MAKING PERSONA 5 TAKE FOREVER!

Everytime I see some news from Atlus my heart stops a beat in hope it's about P5 for nextgen consoles.

Good question.  I'm not actually sure just what exactly this is.  I would think it would only consist of the fusing and battling aspects of Persona 3 (probably with animations, presumably) except you could link up with a friend to replace an AI party member. "

Well, I'm certain fusing would be an aspect of the game as even the SMT MMO has that as one of its core features and there's a mention of "quests".  Also, the game's free. "

What's so "3" about it? They could base it off any of the Persona series or forge their own little plot and they decide to base it off Persona 3? Weird.

I was done with P3 after FES came out. Now it's just annoying.
 
At least we'll never see this in the west anyway. I just hope Atlus deliver the goods come TGS. Persona 5 or bust.

Don't feel like making a new thread about this, so I'll just update this one with the new information: the game has topped one million users. A "Persona 4 Social" is also in the works.

Well I'd need a few years to graduate as a software engineer and learn the Android SDK. I'm sure there are other people capable of porting it over that have the resources and ability.
