    Persona

    Franchise »

Depicting occult practices, fey heroes, and demons crawling out of the woodwork, Persona is Atlus' largest, most successful, and most acclaimed franchise. Beginning as a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, the series developed a sizable following in the West after Persona 3, and expanded into non-JRPG genres after Persona 4.

Memories of The Persona Series and The MegTen Franchise:

I started in MegTen (as its is called by its many fans) with Avatar Tuner (Digital Devil Saga) and at a time when many games wanted to do more Xenogears works (I will get to that soon) DDS was a interesting sight to behold. I haven't beat it yet - but the other part of the MegTen Franchise - Persona is doing very well ... so well in fact that they are bringing the first game of Persona back.
The 1996 Persona is not unlike the Third Version of Persona - school, ghosts, J-Drama with American Soap antics - major difference is that 96 was more towards a Dawson's Creek style - where as 3 was more J-Drama. But before a lot of other games talked the dark side and did the dark side MegTen did it in style.

The whole franchise started back when Ninty allowed hardcore stuffs. The game was also on PC when we started this whole gaming hobby. It was fucked up but fun. They only did three games on the main franchise one on the Playstation 2 - and several others as side stories.

But the Playstation family is where Persona made its home. The Second game was badly edited, and some parts never made it to the states. That being said, with the first game coming back its hoped the second game will get a re edit.

Persona is just that - a look into the lives we put up as real, but are really lies. Is our faith based on a fantasy? Is the concept of Gender, a reality or another construct? So far - the 4 Persona games have answered some of these questions. The fact remains they come in a time where many have given up on the tales of man's perfidy...

Maybe the gaming industry needs to learn from the MegTen franchise than it cares to admit.

    Until next Episode...
