Is it possible? It would be way faster than using a USB key to transfer videos and stuff.

Connect to a PS3 via FTP client?
I have FlashFXP, which is a FTP client. It permits me to transfer stuff from one computer to another. I want to know if it is possible to connect to a PS3 and transfer files directly from my PC hard drive to my PS3 hard drive.
Hmm, why not try it, again?
I am pretty sure that would work... or you can stream, and copy, all your stuff on your PC HDD, to your PS3 HDD, wirelessly, via the media server option. Works great, I have my laptop, computer, and family computer connected.
Unless you're running a FTP server on your PS3 there is now way for it to work. The only way to get a FTP server to work on your PS3 would be to use Linux, and Linux has no access to the PS3/XMB portion of the drive.
Just enable a DLNA server on your PC and then use that to grab stuff.

If you have windows XP or Vista just use Windows Media Player 11. It does not need to be running to work.
- Go to Options: Library Tab
- Configure Monitor Folders to watch your media directory.
- Configure Sharing. Check the box Share my Media to:
- Go to your PS3 and under one of the media segments of XMB tell it to Search for Media Servers
- Look at the list of devices in WMP11 and Unknown Device will have shown up, select it and set it to Allow
- Under Settings tell WMP to share all media and all ratings.
It's on the PS3, an option. You press it, your PS3 scans for computers/laptops around the area, then you can access everything on that computer with your PS3, and copy stuff wirelessly as well.
That's basically what it is.
"GASP" Ok. I tried it... But it didn't work :/
Is there somthing i have to do on P.C. or PS3 to make it work?
You have to go to Windows Media Player on your PC, then under library or something, there are the sharing options.
There is a full guide somewhere, just do some googling.
This is soooo cool.
I was just thinking about this today. It amazes me that the last answer is from 12 years ago today, Nov. 8, 2020. This page deserves to be included in the web's time machine. There's still no concrete answer for this question anywhere that I've looked. I hope you all are alright. Cheers. Also if someone else searches for this in the future, if you found the answer, let us know.
