I'm curious how many of you have had to upgrade to a larger Hard Drive. With the seemingly larger and larger install files games require; 40, 60 and 80gb seem to fall behind and get filled retardedly fast, especially if you download demos, addon content, vids, music etc.

So have you? If so, how large?

    I upgraded my 60gb model to a 250gb. I hope it's enough for a while.

I actually didn't have anything in my possession that had enough space to transport everything I had. So I just copied my saves to a thumb stick and re-downloaded w/e I had other wise.

you need an external hard drive and you connect it to your ps3 then in the settings there is a "backup system" feature you go on this and it copies your saves etc. onto the external hard drive.. then you just copy it all back over onto the new one when you install it

Upgraded my 60GB to a 250GB. I used an external HD for the back-up/transfer of data. Extremely easy to do and well worth it. It was such a smart thing for Sony to allow users to use a standard laptop HD to upgrade their PS3.

Not yet, but when I do, I'm going straight to 500GB, or 750GB's if available. Why? Because I can.

most definatley... considering laptop hard drives come cheap considering you can buy a 250Gb HDD for around £60 as opposed to paying £120 to upgrade a 360 to 120GB

Ah thanks for the help, its funny you can find a HD nowadays thats near 1 terabyte  from newegg for less than the 360's 120 gig HD attachment.

yeah its pretty poor... and its one argument i hate about the 360... "its cheaper than the ps3" yes but the cost with the ps3 is one lump sum you dont have to buy everything afterwards

your ranks and friends are saved with your psn account which is stored online for a start, to play your games which you have saved from the point at whch you have saved them you will need to back up your ps3 hard drive using an external storage device

Cha, the prices of 2.5" HD's keep dropping. I paid about $120 for my 250gb HD. Too bad Sony didn't slap in a standard sized SATA HD in the console tho... bahh, you can get like 3X the storage for the same price of the 2.5" moble drives. So instead of an good intro upgrade being 250gb it could be 750gb and 1TB.

Nope, but I want to, when a better wifi enabled version of linux comes out for the PS3 i will update it then.

I have like 10-13 GBs left which is enough for right now. And I can delete game data for games i dont play nemore (AC, NGS, UT3)

But i want to and will someday upgrade
