The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

So are the PS3 collections worth it?

I'm bringing my ps3 into my dorm room next year and I was thinking of getting the god of war collection, the shadow of the colossus and ico collection and the sly cooper collection. Are they worth the cash?

I can't talk for Sly Cooper, but the other two are certainly worth it.

I can at least attest that the GoW collection is great; both games still hold up splendidly, though given that the series has always largely played the exact same across each game, that probably shouldn't come as a surprise. Solid ports all around, 60 frames, no notary bugs or glitches or anything like that, and there's a bonus behind-the-scenes video looking at the development of GoW2.

    @Kenshinfan818:

If you haven't played them and don't have a PS2 or a 60GB PS3 then yes they're worth it. I think the SotC and Ico ones are solely worth it just because they're cheaper and fix some of the problems the PS2 versions had. Sly Cooper is probably the best deal of all. They're basically bargain bin prices but upscaled versions of the old games.

They're all great. The Shadow of the Colossus/ Ico one is especially great because a lot of the frame rate issues from the PS2 versions have been fixed.

I would say go for Ico/SoTC first. It includes some behind the scenes extras.

I've put almost 200 hours into the Devil May Cry collection. Best $40 I've spent this year.

If you've never played any of those games before, the HD collections are a fantastic way to experience them now. I can only speak for the GoW pack personally, but this is coming from someone that played those games when they originally came out as well. I mainly got it for the trophies XD

The only PS3 collection I've bought was the Jak and Daxter collection, and it was totally rad.

I hate those collections. The only one I have is Silent Hill mostly because of the lack of horror games available.

The Ico collection is probably the best one of these HD updates anyone has put out due to the improvement in performance as well as all the extras they put on the disk. The Sly collection is great as well.

The Ico one is good, and the MGS one is great as well.

Ive only played Sly 1 in the collection and it still looks really sharp and I assume the sequels look better. The Ico collection is also great.

The God of War Collection is really good. If you're into platformers the sly collection is good too.

I got the Sly Collection for 10 bucks and I gotta say its not worth it unless you have nostalgia of when you played it on your PS2. I tried to play Sly 1 and the gameplay is just bad. The platforming is broken at times. The art style holds up but apart from that it does not hold up. I cannot speak on Sly 2 or Sly 3 but coming from my experience of Sly 1 I say pass on it. GoW collection i suspect that holds up. The games mechanics haven't changed since the first one so I suspect its worth it.

They are all single player games, 90% of the video games I played when I was in the dorm were multiplayer, leave your door open, people come in, play, and make friends.

fighting games, sports games, rhythm games, arcade racers/kart games, and puzzle games like tetris/bubble bobble/lumines, all did very well.

Yes, but some of us are anti-social, thank you very much.

All 3 of those are rather good collections. Just avoid crap like the Prince of Persia HD/Splinter Cell HD/Silent Hill HD collections. They were rather poor 'updates'.
