not including headsets with the PS3

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Sony's biggest mistake ever
If you're gonna get into the biggest mistake, I don't think Headsets is the one to blame.
I've been in a room where like 5 people had headsets before, and everything they say Echos; its probably the bluetooth's fault and if they had actual headsets where the speakers are no where near the mic, it wouldn't echo, but I rather have silence than that echoy mess.
I'd say Sony's biggest problem (that they are learning from), is to make a lot of features that are on the 360 optional and up to the devs to implement if they want. This includes Trophies, in game music, messages, etc. Sure some of those things have been patched, and others will be mandatory, but the lag time of all this, makes it apparent that Sony is just reacting to what MS is doing.
"Thankfully I'm not a fan of talking to random strangers through a games console."Anyone else sees the irony here?
I have to agree with Staticshock here. The headsets is a big mistake that affects the online experience. I would not have gone bluetooth but wired attaching to the controller's mini usb port. But yeah, Sony just has a track record for not including features that everyone can agree should be standard by the time the console comes out.
The first Playstation - Joysticks and rumble. Everyone knew this was coming from Nintendo. Sony did fix it with the first dual shock but something like that today would kill a console.
The PS2 - Video hardware, oh man, they freaking didn't include anti-aliasing as a standard feature of the their graphics chip so the game makers had to write the code for it themselves otherwise the games would look like zig zaggy messes. This was standard on the dreamcast since late 1998 in japan, so why not put it in there sony, in 2000!!?!? This little problem made it apparent that Dreamcast games would still look just as good if not better than the PS2 games.
Online hardware, again Sega included a modem with the dreamcast, and they had the foresight to know that it would not be long before broadband was standard so they made it removeable so as to allow the player to replace it with a broadband modem later. The PS2 didnt have a modem till 2002. And a crappy looking one at that. though it did include Twisted Metal Online which was nice.
The PS3 - Headsets not included when the PSN is supposed to be the big thing. Console features like in game music, good online servers, vibration on the controllers
The echo problem is an issue w/ the connection, it has nothing to do w/ the headsets, its the bad network.
I've been in a room where like 5 people had headsets before, and everything they say Echos; its probably the bluetooth's fault a
HOME is a way bigger problem than no headsets anyway. Do you really want to hear people on mic saying "R U REEEL GIRLLLL???? WANT BLOW JOBZZ??????"

Oh, so their biggest mistake was not releasing blu-ray technology too soon which made them drop in the markets and go through one of the worst economical situations they have never been through? It was obviously not the releasing of the PS3 with rumble from the start, nor was it letting go of great exclusives, nor was it Lair... No, it was the headseats... But of course...
Where's LiquidPrince? He's going to come barging in here saying that Sony doesn't have any problems.
Sony's biggest mistake? Why, the PS3 of course! Or, letting Phil Harrison talk in front of people. God he's an idiot.
Not having a headset is hardly the biggest problem, I play games on the PC and 9/10 times nearly everyone has a headset in my games, its the peoples fault playing PS3 , and Sony's less, still would of been nice to include one in the box but its hardly the "biggest" problem.
I wouldn't say Home is the biggest either, just for the fact that regardless of it pretty much being completely useless and dumb imo, its not like anyone is forced to use it or launched into it immediately. Now if that happened, I would say its the biggest problem, it is still just a free thing that no one has to mess with so I can't hate too much there, since I never got the whole hype behind home to begin with. Never looked good to me from the start.
I don't really know what presently is their biggest "mistake", I would say going back in time was the launch of the console and how underwhelming every single bit of its online was, but its obviously much better now from launch. I guess giving Haze or Lair any support what so ever and not canning them was a huge mistake.

Gotta love the internet."
I was in home tonight and there was a gentlemen from the ghetto in the Uncharted bar. He was calling everyone a n***** and screaming about his love for Obama. True story. He was going up to everyone and yelling, "yeah...wut...yeah...wut...N*****...yeah...that's what I'm talkin' bout'...yeah....N******...punk ass bitch...N*****. Every third word was N*****. Literally going up to everyone doing that for about a half hour.
That made me really glad that not everyone has a mic on the PSN.
OT but, I think they should separate home users based on age, if that's what we desire. I think an over 30 home for me would be just fine.
"Thankfully I'm not a fan of talking to random strangers through a games console."And what does that make us?

Just to add my $0.02 to this thread - I absolutely hate three things when I play games:
1) Talking to other people. How the fuck do people play fighting games and racing games while having a "meaningful" conversation. I kinda understand the "strategy" play in shooters but in my experience people rarely listen to each other. "Dude, defend the base"... "I don't fucking want to, you do it"... etc. Let's not move into the "that's why you should play with friends"; kinda defeats the point if you ask me.
2) I absolutely hate, hate, hate screaming 12 year olds. I absolutely hate, hate, hate attention seekers. I absolutely hate, hate, hate racism. I absolutely hate, hate, hate being called a "n00b". I absolutely hate, hate, hate being told I "have a funny accent". I absolutely hate, hate, hate being trash talked because of my accent. Let's not move into the "that's why you should play with friends"; kinda defeats the point if you ask me.
3) I detest joining a match, getting into said match and having to straight away pause up my game, scroll to the offending gamertags/PSN names and hit the mute button. It's an extra 10 seconds (longer in the case of XBOX where more people are screaming/breathing/mouthing off down their "in box" mic) where I should be playing.
Honestly, you really want my opinion on mics in games: Sony not packaging one with their system was actually one of the ways they sold the Playstation 3 to me. That's how bad of a time I've had in XBOX Live on the original XBOX and the initial year I had a 360.
Disagree with me, fair enough. That's my experience with mics in games. Of course, you still get the odd twat in PSN but honestly... because so few people have mics I end up muting probably one person every three or four games. Suits me.
Looking back on this in retrospective, considering Sony has removed public voice chat from Home, this thread is hilarious. lol

No, because warhawk, sonys biggest exclusive online multiplayer game, comes with a headset.
The main reason sony did not include one though is that the ps3 is compatable with most bluetooth headsets so you can just use a mobile one.
To be honest though I only use my headset if Im playing with friends, I hated it on COD4 when people just spoke utter rubbish and played terrible rap music through the headphones. I generally just mute people as soon as they speak now. I dont need to know every time they get a kill, or when they die, and whilst they might feel helpful pointing out every enemy funny enough all the other players have eyes and can see too :?
