What's most exciting for me is seeing what the PS4 can do now, I can look forward to how much my PC games will blow the consoles away again. Seriously, PC games are going to look incredible this gen.

PlayStation 4 is Sony's fourth home video game console, released on November 15, 2013 in North America, and November 29, 2013 in Europe. On November 10 2016, Sony released the Playstation 4 Pro, an updated version of the console targeting 4K gaming.

It's what Claude will look like when the PS8 is released.
So what is the deal with the Witness? Is it only on Ps4 now? I swear I heard that. The witness was also the only game there I was impressed by.

I'm a bit worried about that too, though them using the word 'debut' seems to hint it'll come out on ps4 first, pc later. I hope not too long after though.

I hope so. I don't want to have to get a PS4 in order to play it.
They have the Killzone demo on Gametrailers. Looks pretty, but very average in terms of it's gameplay.
Call me boring but even playing Killzone with that level of detail has me super excited.
Jimmy Saville?

They used the word "debut" and Blow said that the PS4 was the only platform it would be on in the "release window." Sounds like a timed exclusive to me.
So, as someone who doesn't have a horse in the console race, I have to say that the PS4 conference was pretty good and definitely puts the pressure on Microsoft. I think the PS4 has a strong chance to become the defacto console of the next generation unless Microsoft unveils some ridiculous stuff. I guess we will have to wait and see.
@bourbon_warrior: Agreed, i'm kinda done with 'thrill ride first person shooters'
However i have always liked the universe, political intrigue and the lore of the killzone games (even if they dont always push that stuff to the forefront in their games as they could)
Twin that with the excitement and gimmick of seeing new engines and playing an improved level of animation, physics and detail and i reckon i've got enough in me to let this one get a pass.
@subjugation: That's the cool situation we're in right now. Microsoft needs to be on par, or better than this. They might want to compete on price/hardware instead, who knows.
Jimmy Saville?
Keep him away from Milo!
Well, colour me interested. It'll all come down to the price of the system, but they've definitely done a good job of presenting plenty of evidence for PS4 being very promising, maybe even being the system that can retake the market share for Sony. E3 will be where these seeds will start to bear fruit.
I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to be a day-one adopter for the new consoles - I'd rather upgrade my PC - but man, maybe I should wait to see what Microsoft offers and what happens at E3 before making that decision.
I liked the conference, but what bothered me was some of the comments that a few of the GB guys made during their stream of it.
"I can count the number of PS3 games I want on one hand."
Really? Regardless of whether or not that's accurate or a matter of personal taste, of which it greatly greatly falls into the latter in this case, it's an incredibly ignorant and assholeish thing to say. The whole vibe just felt biased and negative for no reason. Cynicism and ignorance are two unappealing qualities. Two very unappealing qualities. Especially for a "journalist".

I'm in the same boat, and I have decided on next gen consoles. It's mostly the spectating thing that has me really interested, when I jump on to play clubs with friends on Fifa sometimes I arrive when they just started the game, now I can just spectate my club playing even if I am eating dinner or just late to the game.
Sony's reveal was really impressive. Games, not a bunch of stupid facebook and twitter bullshit, but stuff I'm actually interested in using.
Microsoft really has to hit it out of the park whenever they decide to debut. From the way they've been focusing on everything but games these past few years, I'm a bit worried.
The technology looks sweet, I was expecting fidelity of games that I can play now of my 2 year old gaming PC, but they showed stuff that looked better than anything on PC at the moment. The car models in that driving game were insane, Killzone 4 fire effects and lighting.
It's a shame they are waiting to have it during my only class of the day!
You know what to do then. Set your priorities straight!
I went to class, I MESSED UP!

You probably have the advantage because Sony will probably upload in 1080p
all i got to say is patrick needs to keep rocking that james franco look. i know he can do it!
e: and yes i was impressed by some of the games even on a shitty feed. just hoping it somehow stays below the $500 mark.
this was pretty damn awesome. im really impressed.
also, extremely curious what microsoft is going to do, cus the PS4 seems fantastic.
also nice to see people excited for consoles, all the gross scoffing from the PC crowd has gotten old.
I think that what it comes down to is kind of a meh experience for me. I feel like writing and article or something about it because I had very mixed feels.
Anyone know when the replay of the stream will start?
https://us.playstation.com/meeting2013/ HERE YA GO, I am watching it too

to be fair, a lot of what held up pc gaming effects was the lack of development strictly for it. you had a few companies like Cd Projekt Red and 4A games that were trying to push the hardware, but there really was no established drive to make current PC technologies sing. Now that new consoles are out using Unreal 4 level effects we may see a significant increase in quality on the PC side as well; utilizing the new effects but with much more horsepower behind them. do have to say that optimization will be an issue on PC vs PS4/nextbox, and the hardware specs for PS4 seem surprisingly hefty (at least the 8gb GDDR, but maybe that's the linchpin to scoring great performance with the other hardware only being middle of the road. not sure.)
I'm a little disappointed that they didn't show off the box, I understand why they wouldn't talk about prices yet. As patrick said "the ball is in microsoft's court" regarding prices.
