PlayStation Vita is Sony's second handheld gaming device.
PlayStation Vita Dated December 17 in Japan, Lots of Ports Announced
Actually pleasantly surprised by some interesting games announced for Vita. Did enjoy FFX quite a bit and there's one or two others that could be interesting.
Keep offering this sort of thing Sony and you might even impress.
Too bad pretty much all the cool stuff announced are also coming to ps3.
And the PR sheet is saying the system doesn't come with a memory card which is required for pretty much everything (Worse than the no hdmi cables in ps3 box).
memory is also stupidly overpriced. Sony had to cut many corners to get the launch price low.
Port, port, remake, port, port. I like these titles, but I hope they diversify their library better than the 3DS's so far.
Hopefully the games won't be too expensive. It would be rather annoying to pony up full price for HD releases if they don't put any extra features in.

Memory is only required for buying from PSN, but game saves and DLC are stored in the retail game carts themselves. So if you don't buy anything from PSN you don't need a memory card. That will probably suck for the PSN-only developers though.
While this is no doubt a sexy piece of hardware that's where my interest in this ends. I don't really see the point in a handheld gaming system now that phones are good enough to provide ample distraction on the toilet seat or on the train.
Wow, Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the Vita. Nothing like launching the system with a game that's going to get people to snap it in half from all of the crazy inputs that game demands.
I don't know if either of these platforms really do anything for me, although I'm somewhat excited about Vita while completely apathetic about the 3DS (until a redesign at the very least). I'm an old fart now, a far cry from toting around my original gameboy in high school to play Pokemon. I really would like to continue handheld gaming in theory, but my PSP and DS collect dust for 99% of the year and only get pulled out for Layton games and such.
I carry an iPod Touch for music and video, a Droid phone for calls and internet, and they're both "good enough" when it comes to gaming. I really don't want to admit this, but I don't think there's really room in my life (or pockets) anymore for a dedicated handheld. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I wonder if we have to buy two copies of Metal Gear Solid HD Edition both on PS3 and Vita for the Transfarring system to work, cause if so, that would suck and I'd rather just buy the PS3 version. Same with Final Fantasy X.

You're not the only one, and that's truly incredibly depressing. Because of this that could very well mean the end for dedicated handheld devices, and suddenly good enough will have to be good enough for everyone else. That sucks.
You've ruined portable games for everyone with your conformist attitude! Jerk!
I don't wanna' play glorified flash game clones for the rest of my life!
*pouts*

I can see where you're coming from with this, and I think it's the case for many gamers today. For me, though, I'm still excited about the Vita for the same reason I have enjoyed my PSP. While I do enjoy the occasional console game, sometimes it just isn't convenient to get it setup on my TV while the rest of the family want to watch something, or the game isn't appropriate around the kid, or it's the evening when the sound can't be on very loud, if at all. So, having a quality handheld that I can just pick up and play in my recliner with some headphones is fantastic. My PSP has been great for that; so, even when I'm not on the go or sitting around somewhere, I have it at home for easy playing.
The Vita, to me, appears to be about a full console gaming experience in a handheld, and that's just what I need. The PSP is clearly a stepdown from a console experience, but the Vita really has the control scheme, game engine, and game lineup to fit in for when console-gaming just isn't convenient or appropriate. I get my personal time without much fuss. I think that's how it can fit into my life, and that's what really has me intrigued about it. :)
Anyone else just a little bit peeved at the FFX announcement. I mean what seriously? That game isn't dated.
A port really? I mean FFX is great but it was only 10 years ago and the graphics and my copy of it are still fine to me at least. No Vagrant story or FF6-9 port or remake? Anything that actually feels truly dated to gamers? I mean come on FFX got a sequel....OH GOD THEY ARE GOING TO PORT THAT TOO. >:-O
SUMMER 2015, FFX-2 HD More Fan-service Edition. ( or should i say disservice).
Hopefully.I hope Sony realizes more than Nintendo that solid launch games carry system sales for the first couple quarters...
Unfortunately it seems the new thing is "launch window".
This means what exactly? Within the first quarter? First six Months? Within the year of release?
I'll be very curious to see a list of their launch window titles and how long from launch these launch window games get released.

Why do people not appreciate Final Fantasy XII? That's the good Final Fantasy.
Good story, but a boring battle system (personal opinion of course). And final fantasy XIII was a good game as well. Really great battle system. But the japanese rpg genre over the years has become a niche product. Not many outside of japan care about these style of games.
It's us against the world man, us against the world.
New Lumines?... fuck now I need a Vita.
Provided it's as good as the original that is. Lumines II didn't do much for me.
Oh fuck - metal gears, FFX, persona 4....
Vita is shaping up to be my replay machine, and I aint complaining.

but the real question is, did they talk about Transfarring?
They indeed talked the crappola out of Transfarring. They are transfarring it up big time. (well, at least Konami is)
I hope they launch it in North Amercia early next year, March at the latest. I already got the little fucker paid off in full so I'm just curious about the North America launch titles. Would be great to get Uncharted and Modnation day 1.

I bet you have to buy both. I'm hoping they at least include a bundle version, even if it is ten dollars or so more than the single release. Just don't charge me $60 for the PS3 and $50 for the Vita version.
I was already sold on this thing the first time I saw Gravity Daze.
The lineup of confirmed games for this thing is HUGE. We'll see how it looks come release date.
Even with looking back and seeing my PSP collect dust since day one due to lack of geniunily appealing releases, I still think I will jump on the Vita boat. I have been thoroughly dissapointed with my 3DS, even with the shit-list they gave for free of NES games. Devil Survivor Overclocked and Ocarina are the only 2 games that have tasted my money from purchasing and I don't see a purchase in the near future except for maybe a first-party release but who knows when those will finally drop.
I am looking forward to this handheld but I'll probably wait until there is a good set of JRPGs out for it.

I really hope not. I mean, looking at the digital re-release of the previous Final Fantasy games on the PSN, the copy you purchase there allows you to play it on both the PS3 and PSP. I hope they continue with that strategy.
@algertman: Seriously? You haven't played things worse than FFX? then my odds are you don't delve deeply into the genre because FFX is a solid game all around IMHO. However each man is allowed their opinion and thus you have yours. Personally I hope this opens the way to FF12. I have a first gen ps3 I could play it on but I rather have a snazzy HD port.
