I'm assuming its slow because it just launched and the kinks are being worked out.  As well as all the traffic its probably getting due to curiosity.  Also, the title bar on my browser reads GiantBomb: The Latest in Video Gae News and Blogs.  You might want to fix the typo for Gae if it hasn't been noticed already.  I love the layout and concept of the site though.  When it speeds up I'll take a closer look.
