For people like me, RSS is a godsend, keeping us up to date on things we wouldn't normally have the time to check on.

The problems with the main site RSS showing old posts, and missing new posts, has already been reported.

What about individual RSS feeds? I thought everything on the site would have its own feed. Here are some examples of functionality I wish I had:

  • Ability to see new additions to a game (I've "subscribed" to the page, but that appears to do nothing). Has someone updated a game I am watching, and if so, what have they updated?
  • Ability to be notified of any replies to forums threads I've posted in.

Whether this is done having an RSS per game, or having some sort of personal feed which has everything I am "subscribed" too, is there anyway to get this functionality right now?

Same problem. Furthermore, if the RSS feed doesn't accurately inform me of new articles/reviews on Giant Bomb, I am unlikely to ever know about them. It's important this gets fix for those of us who don't have the time to check the site on a regular basis.

Ah, you beat me to it. I also vote to keep the "Mana" one and ditch the Seiken Densetsu one. Squares current brand for the series is "World of Mana."

"To cwilliams: Just to let you know, Secret of Mana is my favorite game of all time. When i first learned Giant Bomb was online I immediately jetted over to the SOM page to see if I could make this page my baby. And at the time nothing was filled out. So my submissions were pending and i went back a day later to check on the page. To my surprise and a little disappointment you had beat me to the punch. The point is, is that if you hadn't of done such a good job on this and beat me to the punch i would be the person that had edited this page.
Yea, waiting on the pending submissions week number 1 was killer. Sorry my edits beat yours to the punch :) We can still all work together to make our favorite game's page the best it can be!

"Thanks for putting so much effort into this. I personally love Secret of Mana (a friend and I played hours upon hours of it 2p back in middle school) and it's good to see people haven't forgotten it.
"
Thanks for the thanks :) I am putting a lot of work into fleshing out every single aspect of this page, only cause I love this game and like the idea of Giant Bomb. It's frustrating when people complain about it, and it's nice to hear kind words from a site founder. Thanks again.
That might be my favorite aspect of Giant Bomb: you can funnel your passionate nostalgia for a bygone game like Secret of Mana into a public resource that everyone can enjoy and remember the game by. The only thing that stopped me from going nuts on Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger before we launched was knowing how much fun someone else would have doing the same thing.
Never thought about how you guys would have to restrain yourselves :)

Learn some english first, NEARLY ALL of the overview, see on the left side over there
Perhaps you are the one that needs English lessons. By "Overview," I thought you meant the section of the article titled "Overview." I can see now that by "Overview" you meant the section labeled "Development." I am sorry that was not immediately clear to me. You should also work on your spelling, grammar and punctuation.
but then again its obvious cwilliams that you just took the wikipedia article your self and changed the words, Plagerism? .....specifically the development area, which is a DIRECT rip from the wikipedia article.
While your brushing up your English, look up the meaning of the word paraphrase. There are only so many ways you can talk about one thing. How many ways can you talk about the SNES CD addon? Of course I expanded that. And added the section on music. Is your problem with the layout? You keep saying it's a rip. At best some of it is paraphrased.

You refuse to acnkolwedge:
  • I contributed a lot to Wikipedia. Am I plagurizing myself?
  • You can only talk about one thing so many ways.
  • Where are all the images you are uploading to games coming from? Did you get them direct from a publisher or capture them yourself? Theres no way they would be from other websites, correct?

I've added all the staff members, updated the credits, done the items and concepts, added/corrected all three releases, added all the characters to the bomb and this page, uploaded a vast amount of images and done just one round of editing on the article. And your contention is that is plagarizing? Because I talk about the same things in a similar structure?

Unless you and I go and make a brand new Secret of Mana game, at best everything we do is describing and paraphrasing something that already exists.
I dont wanna see giantbomb sued by wikipedia for theft maybe you do.
Sued by Wikipedia? A non-profit organization that specifically licenses all of their content under a free license that allows freedom to copy and redistribute it, with or without modifying it? What fantasy world do you live in?
I confronted the forum that the page was plagerism, and 2 people replying
Really? Two people? Amazing. If the righteousness of an argument was determined by the number of people you can get to agree with you on the internet, the world would be a dumb place.
P.S: I do love how towards the end of your post you had this imaginary conversation with us
I'm sorry for trying to have a productive conversation about any actual deficiencies in the article, and suggesting we work to correct them. All you've done is complain, and make a pending edit that I assure you I will remove immediately. You've yet to suggest how you would change a single thing you are complaining about for the better.

I said I wouldn't reply to this further, and I'll repeat that again. I just felt my need to defend myself against your idiocy. Would you like to begin discussing how to improve the article?

Sorry I added them without consulting you first, but I did so without seeing this post. I think it will be fine however.
Ah come on :) While I believe the forum is an excellent place to talk about changes, you don't have to consult anybody, especially me, to submit something you think fits. I'm not the keeper of this page - just a devoted fan :) I plan to keep an eye on this page to keep it on track, but my opinion is by no means the only one that matters - that's against the spirit of the bomb.
The names of the characters from the Japanese manual are Randi, Purim, Popoie supposedly, but overall the Secret of Mana gaming population knows these characters by those names.
That's my problem, someone somewhere said that supposedly the Japanese manual refers to the characters by those names and all the sudden the whole internet is stuck with them. Maybe I am letting the fact that I absolutely hate those names cloud my judgement :)
Well there is no way Giant Bomb is going to let you make the characters with the names The Boy, The Girl, and The Sprite.
Sure there is, we would have to do something like The Boy (Mana Series) or The Girl (Secret of Mana).

I guess we'll just throw them in as characters because, as you said, thats the consensus on the interwebs at large. Anyone else here have thoughts on it?

Wikipedia:

Secret of Mana, known in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 2 (聖剣伝説2, Seiken Densetsu Tsū?, lit. "Legend of the Holy Sword 2"), is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the second installment in the Mana video game series (the first, Final Fantasy Adventure/Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden was for the Game Boy). This is the only Mana game released on the Super Nintendo outside Japan. Most players outside Japan were introduced to the series through this particular game.

Rather than use the traditional turn-based battle system of games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, Secret of Mana uses real-time battles akin to the Legend of Zelda series' games, but with the statistical-based elements of the RPG genre and a unique "ring menu" system. In addition, with its brightly colored graphics, expansive plot, and soundtrack by Hiroki Kikuta, Secret Of Mana has been called one of the greatest video games ever made.

Giant Bomb:

Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2 in Japan) is an action role-playing game for the Super Nintendo. The game is the second in the Mana series of games.

Secret of Mana uses a top-down view like most 16-bit RPGs, but from there the similarities end. The combat uses a real-time battle system, with combat occuring in real time in an action fashion, while magic can be cast in the middle of battle using the games ring menu system. Secret of Mana is a co-operative multiplayer RPG, allowing a second player and/or third player (using the SNES Multi-tap addon) to take control of the hero's allies.

Secret of Mana is widely regarded for its beautiful and colorful 16-bit graphics, epic story, unique soundtrack, as well as its action oriented and multiplayer capable combat system.

Statistical breakdown: 14% similar. Scandalously shares the following words more than once: Secret, of, Mana, Super, Nintendo, Game, Games, Seiken, Densetsu, Action, Japan, It, Uses, Real, Time, Battle, System, Second.

Have fun trying to say that Secret of Mana is a super nintendo game, known as seiken densetsu in Japan, that uses a real time battle system, without using those same word. You can only describe one thing so many ways.

Did I look at what the Wikipedia article had? Absolutely, especially to see what they had about the characters names and development info (such as the localization info, I never knew that.) Of course, not sure if you stopped to realize this, I contributed quite a lot to the Wikipedia page as well.

Furthermore, we are all contributing stuff from elsewhere. I'm sure every screenshot you've submitted you got direct from the publisher? No? Wait - you captured the screenshots yourself? No? No...you couldn't have....got them from another website? SCANDALOUS! Furthermore, putting a references section in the article is a good idea. I initially didn't do it because Giant Bomb doesn't provide a way, but thats a bad reason, we can just add links.

I tried to write an informative article on a game I enjoy in the very little free time I have. Sue me.

How about, rather then complaining, we make the article better. It can be frustrating while we all wait for edits, and have no idea what each other are doing. Let's use the forums to work on article updates collaberatively. The article still needs gameplay/character descriptions that I haven't had the time to write.

And because this a fantastic waste of time and you can argue with trolls till the end of time, I'm done with this thread unless we get back to Secret of Mana or worthwhile discussion of this page.
