This game really hit home for me and had so many powerful moments. Obviously everything you pointed out in the video but also so many little things.

Early on I was investigating Ember Twin and came upon Chert. I went up to talk to him and found him completely losing his marbles about the end of the world. The star charts! They were wrong! Everything is going to die, and there's nothing we can do to stop it!

This was the first time I saw someone actually acknowledge what was happening but, to be frank, I just thought it was kind of funny. I went through all his dialogue (though he didn't say anything else) and went on my way. After running around the planet I ended up back where Chert was sitting around the time the music kicked in signaling the end of the run. I didn't have anything better to do so I blasted back to him and started talking to him...and he was completely different. His acceptance of what was happening caught me completely off guard. All he said was that he was happy to see me again and would I like to sit with him by the fire. An interesting idea but instead I jetted off hoping to have some fun with my jet-pack before the end.

And this is the moment of the story. As I was heading away from him for some reason I stopped and turned around. I saw Chert sitting by himself silhouetted by a sun about to die...and then I was next to him again. I didn't think about it, I just went. I talked to him one last time, pulled out my marshmallow, and we watched the world end together.

This was the first time I could feel the game grab me. It was here that I stopped thinking about the game as a "game" and started thinking about what I could do to stop everything that's happening. I wanted to protect these people and I needed to figure out how.

...I just stopped playing and deleted the demo right after someone told us the main character is luminary. I just thought that’s enough.

Takahashi Keita is my hero now.

@milkman: I think it's pretty shitty to call a question "fucking dumb" just because you already know the answer.

Considering Vinny not 5 minutes prior to this tirade didn't know that eggs were not a dairy product. Turns out sometimes people just don't know things.

@bjarnibus: honestly I expected a little better from a company like Bethesda. It's true that these kind of money grab games that only exist to exploit the consumer are a dime a dozen on the app store but I don't think that should be an excuse for this kind of app. Especially considering I don't remember fallout shelter (which I didn't play that much of) being so incredibly monetized.

It may have been a different story if the dungeon crawling or story (or both!) were fun or engaging but sadly neither are. It honestly almost feels like the dungeons are exceedingly tedious just so players feel "better" about spending crystals to auto-complete them. That's a pretty insidious take for sure but the whole game is pretty insidious so who knows.

Managed to get into the beta and play a bit and I have to say it really stinks. The combat is boring and incredibly repetitive, the chests are an annoying throwback to when developers were first realizing how trigger happy people can be with their money, and everything - everything - is monetized. From completing missions without having to go dungeon crawling (just pay a small fee and you get the stuff!), to speeding up how fast it takes to build, to (of course) chests. Yes, let me pay a bunch of money so I can auto complete quests to get the materials to start my buildings so that I can pay more money to complete them instantly! Also let's throw in a "healthy" roulette wheel that you can put money into so you can have more chances to pay money to auto complete your buildings.

Left a one star review on the app store. Hopefully someone is reading it.

This series is gonna be gold. The voices had me cracking up the entire time.

Also, @benpack that symbol means horse. Gotta raise that horse meter.

As much as I don't understand Tetris or Dead Cells being up there I was happy to hear everyone's opinion on this stuff! Still haven't listened to day 5 because I'm avoiding God of War spoilers until I've finished the game, but the first 4 days were great! Loved the new format as well.

I might actually pick up RDR2 based off what you guys were saying about it. Even though I usually fall in Jeff's camp of games, Brad's enthusiasm has almost sold me.

Here's to another year of fantastic games!

I love this new format and can't wait to see you guys grow into it.

It does feel weird to have what seems like the first two paragraphs of a usual feature length article but then cut it off with a conclusion so (if you guys are looking for 2 cents) maybe instead of the article being a review it could be a quick summary of the key points you discuss in the video? That might be too much overhead work but I think it would be very nice for people who just pop in because they're curious about the verdict but don't have enough time to devote to the video or podcast right then. That might be the reason you decided to keep the stars? But maybe a little sharper tone would benefit the article.

I am really curious how this would play out for a game that isn't as big as the new Spiderman. I think this kind of free form take will be awesome on a smaller game.

My name is ANaturalFirmness and this is my favorite series on the site!

I can't wait for Alex to start using the Journal. I think it'll really help them with figuring out where specifically they need to go. I can't remember ever actually using the map to figure out what I needed to do next.
