So, new idea. Permadeath for invaders. I would rather that any character that invades is automatically flagged like a 'hardcore' character in Diablo, so any future death results in character deletion.

@announakis:I would totally support invaders not having access to over 50% of the PvE experience.

I am not even sure whether I should laugh or cry now.

@drxlecter mate, I understand that you do not like having your painfully slow and clumsy progression spoiled by an invader (nobody does), but you seriously have to stop making arguments so disproportionate against PvP in general.

i-frames are still in the game but reduced. The duration of the iframes will most likely be increased slightly with agility (or maybe the non-i-frame part of the roll will be reduced, either one of those).

Removing i-frames would make rolling utterly pointless all together.

they introduced this change to make PvE dodging still efficient but making the roll-BS (or any sort of roll-trolling when coupled to the infamous DWGR) harder (but I suspect still possible if you pump a lot of points in agility eventually). Ultimate goal is BALANCE. They keep the same formula proven to be efficient and tweak it to cancel abuses.

My theory is that where you stand on this issue has a lot to do with your opinions on social mobility in real life.

I do agree with this very interesting and smart observation.

@drxlecter allowing interaction of the invader with the mobs is a great idea if the invader could fight back, kill the mobs and not get souls from it himself but give them to the host. Unfortunately this would probably be used as an alternative to cooperation because the community is good at deriving the initial purpose of something as proven many times. For the rest of your prose...well you were obviously kidding...right?

I think that everyone should trust that From Software will be able to balance this new system right:

They already said that griefing as it was in DS1 will not be possible anymore: all weapons damage scale, including elemental damage. no more unscaled pyromancy. So to deal ridiculously high damage at very low will be out of the question....therefore you will never be able to invade a lvl 20 and totally out-damage him in the parish when he has a +4 freaking sword. Regarding armor, most armors in the game will also require some stats to wear them (endurance or strength or whatnot).

these two facts guarantee that invaders will not be significantly better equipped than their targets. and this is the big change since the real problem of DS1 was basically that. I invaded at SL1 in the burg with unupgraded gear to fight starting character there and this was super fun, I basically learned proper PVP this way. SO in my view making invasion a constant threat is OK since it will be balanced.

Ok, player who are reluctant at learning the ropes of PvP will still have their ass kicked but THIS IS THE MAIN PART OF DARK SOULS. PvE is training mode for PvP in the souls franchise. If this game still has such an active community this is because of the PvP. So learn how to fight you fellow players and you will have so much more fun.

Otherwise play off line, its safe. But this would be missing out on the core of the game. The covenant system will this time around hopefully be well thought through so that what was the darkmoon blade will work this time around. The protectors are a great addition to protect fearful players (although this confines to organized ganking but lets see how it turns out)

so stop thinking PvP is not for me and it is forced down my throat. Use this occasion to jump on the fun balanced PvP train!

they should include some achievements for being consistent in your character's behavior:

like one achievement for never ever killing any NPC ("saint") or the opposite, one for killing everybody ("psychopath")

yep it all looks similar to previous installments but less grindy so its is for the best!

some covenants got me very interested since I cannot fathom what their purpose are just based on their name...covenant of the meek ? gnawing covenant?...

and Moonlight greatsword is back! hopefully they will have balanced sorceries this time around so that it is not completely useless (99% of spells) or totally uber (dark beads) in PvP...

I cannot wait to get the gear of Lucatiel of Mirrah: the armor looks absolutely awesome and the sword is the one that was given as a greatsword in the beta to the Dual Swordsman and its moveset was really good, inspired (although just slightly) by actual HEMA moves with still some of the claymore's...

I am so curious to see this game running as a final product now!

Really the big thing you'll be missing is the PS3 version is sure to have a larger and more active crowd playing it. Sure, the 360 version will have some people but PS3 is obviously where most Japanese players will play. Dark Souls on PS3 is still the most active of the bunch for the first game.

yep, this is the only real difference with the controller.

I learned playing dark souls on 360...when I dumped the 360 and bought the PS3 to play the PS3 exclusives, I could not resist buying DS again and I realized that I play much more naturally with the PS3 controller.

the community...well, as many douches in both really...the hackers have gangrened the PS3 version as well now...

but at start of a new installment, I would definitely go PS3 for the japanese player base to give you hell and fun and also for the earliest launch date so no spoilers for a week or 2!

after the beta that showed fairly dull enemies, this trailer makes me quite enthusiastic again in regard to the sort of horrors we will have to face through the game!

ESO has one thing going for it: Next gen console owners starving for games. If they dropped the fee, went B2P with a cosmetic cash shop, and marketed it like Skyrim, it could be a phenomenon. An MMO for Call of Duty players. Skyrim already did that for the western RPG genre, and wasn't a particularly good game at all. If Zenimax handled this launch right, it wouldn't matter how derivative or shallow ESO is.

For all the time, money and effort - they're going to get trumped by Destiny or any other of the oncoming MMO-lite games. There is a window for success, but it doesn't seem like Zenimax has the vision and balls to make it happen.

I actually never thought about it like that. Shit, now I'm actually kinda bummed because that seems like a great "what if" scenario. They do kinda have a release window all to themselves if I'm not mistaken and given how massive that franchise it, it really does seem like they're making the wrong gamble here with the subscription fees and everything.

yeah It would be so true if they released this game NOW!

But by April, there will be lots of new games on the console market : Infamous: second son, Thief, titan fall, MGS5

those are not MMO, granted but a lot of gamers will dedicate their attention to those games in priority to TESO (well, I will at least)

then to make the situation a little worse, there is Final Fantasy a realm reborn that comes end of april to play in the same playground and they had already rather good reviews on PC...If I had to choose to play an MMO between those 2 titles, there is no freaking chance in the world I pay for soemthing looking as terrible as TESO compared to the fantastically refined look of FFARR (I would not play the later either anyway but you know, for the sake of the argument).

I would maybe give it a shot for a month if this was out now because I have nothing new and exciting to play on PS4...but in April, I will have so many better options...
