It must just be my part of the country, but I do still pre-order on occasion after things certain titles like that last Fire Emblem were impossible to find locally, and even difficult to catch in stock online at places like Amazon. I typically buy through Amazon, and put no money down, so one way or another, it doesn't really bother me either way, but even previously I have one or two stores I go to, they're in a college campus area, and tend to sell out of some things early on, and other obscure titles only get orders filled enough FOR pre-orders so... eh.

That being said, I was and still am skeptical about Isolation regardless of this stunt DLC. The idea of a game of any significant length revolving around no weapons and one monster being able to hold onto the suspense, and make the gameplay feel non-repetitive seems really really really hard to pull off. To the point where they could be holding back the last third of the game as DLC and I still wouldn't pre-order out of sheer skepticism. I hope I love it. I WANT to love it. The initial slice reviewers have gotten to look at has me hopeful, but this game... this game just feels like something that could really fall apart an hour or two in after crawling under the dozenth bed/hiding in the 100th locker. Here's hoping the make it work.

@sil3n7: Then you can act like a rational adult and just not read his stuff? It's amazingly easy to do, and doesn't result in a derail. Both problems solved.

@markgcarter: There were three games all using the Nocturne engine, but only the first one was actually made by the Nocturne team. Not only was it made by the Nocturne team, but it was basically a sequel, with the lead characters from Nocturne, The Stranger and "Doc" Holiday were the leads in it too. Was always kinda bummed nothing more came of that series other than them repurposing a bunch of assets planned for Nocturne 2, and changing Svetlana into Rayne for BloodRayne (same background, same voice, same weapons)...

Edit: And I'm going to be that weird guy. I liked Blair Witch 2. I'll be the first to admit that the acting wasn't the greatest, but I did think that the story itself did interesting things with the mythos. If you want to see something truly unsettling, go watch the documentary that the director of Blair Witch 2 made about actual murders in a small Arkansas town called Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills. Really good, creepy stuff.

I adore the hell out of the movie specifically because it's so weird. I showed it to my 10 year old nephew recently and he love it too, and picked out a ton of cameo type things all through it from the games that I missed all these years later.

@porjos: I'll never get tired of all the crazy people that get immediately, and crazily defensive whenever anyone says they're worried about the direction Valve is taking. Carry on, dude, you're hilarious.

So I'm curious. If the rumors are true, and this will be sporting Linux based Steam OS, which in turn would cut out any other service that doesn't run in Linux, how is this not the biggest bullshit monopoly move again? They already did a fantastic job wiping out used game sales on the PC, locking games to one specific person so you can't give them to friends when you don't want them anymore, but now they are (rumored) to be making a big ole box that makes sure to cut out any competition to their storefront.

Man, Gabe's time as a Microsoft employee is showing through beautifully. It's neat how all they needed to do is release a couple good FPS games, and a MOBA to get people to clamor for a potentially more restrictive system of playing games than the Xbox One was going to be on their worst day. Awesome.

Edit: Oh, and their sharing program? Seriously? It's a neat system that is made absolutely pointless by its crazy restrictions. It's amazing how gamers will just ignore anything bad Valve is doing just because they've made a few great games.

@Abendlaender: 22 million units in around a year and a half.... If that's a flop, the entire industry is god damned boned.
