It's just different. 0

Surprisingly, I am the only person currently working here at Head Asplode that enjoys the Grand Theft Auto series and as such, it fell to me to review it. Never have I been tasked with a sweeter, more rewarding assignment. From the very moment I first loaded it up, I knew that this was no ordinary game. The opening cutscene is one of the best that I can remember ever experiencing, rich in both atmosphere and melody, it really started the game off on the right foot. Unfortunately, ...

Retarded Flipper Baby. 0

Introduction             Imagine if you will that a bland hack n’ slash game hooks up with a rail shooter and has a retarded flipper baby.  If only one word could be used to describe Samurai Warriors Katana then ‘retarded’ would be that word.  Despite the fact that developer KOEI has never been known to stray from the path, there are a few big changes--namely that this title should be able to deter both Dynasty/Samurai warrior diehards and KOEI haters alike.             Please don’t think that...

You'd Be Crazy to Pass This One Up. 0

Introduction             With most of Nintendo’s first-party games, we only get one installment every console generation.  Typically, that means the games have a much higher level of polish than games made by mere mortals.  This is most certainly the case with Nintendo’s newest system-seller, Super Mario Brother Brawl.  SSBB is basically a Nintendo-centric fighting game, but with several head asploding qualities that separate it from the crowd of  DoA’s and Virtua Fighters.    Unlike common Jap...

Army of Two and a half stars. 0

Introduction               Usually I’m smart enough not to purchase games made or published by E.A. However with the recent release of Army of Two I broke down. I have to admit a game completely centered on co-op gameplay really enticed me. Plus, the thought of owning a gem studded gold inlaid mini-gun was too much to pass up. I purchased what looked to be E.A.’s first quality game in a long time. But was it?             Well for as long as the game lasts and for as little content as it has, Arm...

A Dumbed Down Dynasty Warriors? Zomg what? 3

Introduction               Dynasty Warriors is an enigma in the gaming world. Almost invariably every installment gets trashed by reviewers and yet it continues to sell and grow as a franchise. Despite the fact that KOEI has been releasing what is basically boils down to the same game every year. Regardless of its title of “6” this game is actually more like 14 in its release history. But this notwithstanding, the series has been a financial success and more than that it has been one of the more...
