I think the thing people hate about it is not so much the game but the players. Halo is an immensely popular game. I went on a tour in 8th grade with my orchestra and we played some of the music from the game. I can't even tell you how annoying it was to see second graders whispering about playing this M rated game. Also, Halo is probably the most hated on community, with accusations of racism and homophobia.
