Game Systems I've owned

This is a list of the game systems that I've owned through the years.  My gaming addiction was forged in the plastic fires of the Atari 2600, and honed through the Lynx and SNES in my youth.

List items

  • The granddaddy of all systems. I remember getting this for Christmas one year, and playing it for days on end, hooked up to our little black and white TV. There were a lot of really great memories of playing Dig Dug (which I remember paying $50.00 for back in the day), and silly budget titles like Alien.

  • I went to a sneak peek of Batman Returns, and lost out winning an Atari Lynx to a guy who answered the question of "What was Tim Burton's first film" wrong (correct answer: Franken Weenie, answer they were looking for? Pee Wee's Big Adventure).

Played a ton of Batman Returns, and a lot of California Games on it...I could never find a copy of one of my favourite games, Joust, for the Lynx though.

  • I bought this one Christmas with some cash I had saved up, and played it on my little 13" colour TV that I bought specifically for playing video games (that would become a theme as I'd upgrade living room components to play better games through the years).

Really, other than Super Mario, Starfox and NHL 95, I don't remember doing a whole ton with the SNES. I remember I had a lot of games, but I don't remember many of them really grabbing me.

  • This is one of the systems that I bought for one game. My buddy Jeff and I played SSX until the wee hours of the morning, and I was hooked. After buying my soon to be wife an engagement ring, the next stop was right to the EB where I bought a PS2. SSX is still one of my all time favourite games.

  • A system seller for me wasn't Halo on the original XBox, it was Knights of the Old Republic, which was a pack-in with the original Xbox. The fact that Halo was in the box too was a great bonus (and a game that I still love to this day). The Xbox ended up being used more for a Media Center extender than it did for an actual gaming rig as we used it to watch TV and movies on for about a year before buying a dedicated PC for that purpose.

  • Gears of War was my reason for upgrading, and I tortured myself by promising myself to pack up our old house before I'd touch it. I couldn't hold out, and ended up busting out the Xbox. I loved Xbox Live, and played it for ages. When Halo 3 came out, I actually stood in line at midnight to pick up a copy. After my 3rd Xbox died, I finally decided to give up on it, and moved over to a PS3.

  • Little Big Planet was the reason I bought a PS3, and it's a fantastic game. The social aspects of the PS3 are not nearly the same as the Xbox, and I find I don't play it near as much.

  • I Love the iPhone, sure it's not a terrific gaming platform, but I play more games on it than I do anything else, because it's what's in my pocket. I play a lot of World Series of Poker, and quite a bit of Angry Birds, among other games.

  • Bought it for my kids. I barely play it. It will probably go up for sale on eBay this year once Kinect comes out.

  • I've barely played anything on my Macbook which I just switched to in April 2010. I have a Steam Account on it, but I've yet to load anything up on it.
