Thanks everyone! I think I will go down the use my TV for now and upgrade to a decent monitor in the future path. Now I've just got to get rid of the nerves and put this thing together....
Like Danny O'Dwyer, I am building a gaming PC (for the first time) that I want to have ready for Fallout 4 next month.
My question is, do I need to spend lots more money (that I don't really have this month) on a decent monitor or will my TV be good enough for what I am after?
All I really want is for Fallout to look better and run at a higher FPS than my ps4. I'm not a multiplayer shooter fan, and would only really be using my PC for single player experiences. I'm also not convinced I would be able to tell the difference between 120fps and 60fps. On a side note, I also want to use my PC to play Rocksmith, so would the TV cause latency issues as it only has hdmi inputs.

And for those interested I am building my PC round the MSI 970 gtx
