Xbox's only play to get Japanese devs onto the Xbox is to start funding some ports. Publishers like Koei Tecmo with the Atelier games, NIS America with Disgaea and the newer Falcom games like Trails and Ys, and even Compile Heart/Idea Factory. These are the games that people who like JRPGs play in between the tent pole mainstream games like Final Fantasy and Persona. For example Disgaea 6 Complete came out on PS4 and PC this week (For NA) after an exclivity deal with Nintendo, but there is no reason why Disgaea shouldn't be on Xbox.

If Xbox spent a fraction of the money they spent getting Bethesda and Axtivision they could help fund a base of JRPGs and Japanese games that would entice fans to come to Xbox.

Honestly, just a list for 2021, 2022 that I would have bought on Xbox if I could have: Ys 9, Atelier Ryza 2, Persona 5 Strikers, NEO The World Ends With You, Blue Reflection Second Light, Disgaea 6, Mary Skelter Finale, Atelier Sophie 2, and Trails From Zero.

A) The beginning was great, thanks for that.

B) Tam talking about that boss fight from Elden Ring was awesome, I am not a big fan of the FromSoft games, but I looked up that fight for context and was incredibly surprised and interested by how different that boss feels from everything else I have seen from that studio. A new game that focuses on that mainly could be super cool.

Edit: I am totally against NFTs for all the reasons people have talked about ad nauseum, but my biggest gripe with NFTs is that nobody has given me a good example of why or how NFTs would work in a given game. Everyone always just gives the broad buzzwords that everyone uses.

Edit2:(I should really just wait til the end but whatever) For MTX in Halo, my kneejerk reaction is twofold. 1. That Halo infinite is not performing monetization wise they way they were hoping for. 2. and as a result of the "State" of Infinite, there is an influx of people returning to MCC in a way.

Honestly I'm with Jeff, it already takes a lot for me to go to a theater, but when I do I don't want people talking throughout, being on their phone etc. Jan's story about people standing and shouting is incredible in that I would never want to go to a movie like that.

Personally I like watching movies at home, it's great, I've got a good TV, good speakers. I've got food and drinks if I need it and ultimately there isn't anyone ruining the expirience. The best part is if the movie isn't enjoyable I can just stop, no wasted money or time.

Also a "quote-a-long" sounds atrocious.

This was great. While I agree with some people that actual knowledgeable people besides Bakalar would be more interesting, this show really is just opportunities to give Dan a platform to make realizations such as Water conducts electricity and to tell stories about him running around in thunderstorms wearing rubber bands.

I remember playing the silent bomber demo as a kid a ton. I could never remember the name of the game once I got rid of the demo disk though. Ive never really played it, but when Guilty Treasures aired that was one of the games I thought of for me aswell, mostly just becuase I dont play a ton of obscure games. (outside of JRPGs whcih are all kinda obscure in one way or another)

@csl316: For me personally its a difference in intent. The Playdate is a simple device that is targetted at a small group of people who would be interested in weird niche games by some big name indie games. Its targetted at people who are interested in games that you would find on places like Itch.io, as Jeff said its a toy.

Where as the Amico is trying to appeal to everyone, literally as games can only be rated E (or E10+), its a system that is trying to sell nostalgia of a time to people who dont really play games and we all saw how well that worked with the Wii (which I know sold well but the legacy of the Wii is nothing but shovelware), despite all the problems, the reasons why games can be updated, or added to with dlc is a positive thing and this weird thought of those things ruining games is an issue. All while this thing is being sold for 250 bucks (or 300 for the Gamestop purple one), which is most of the way to something like an Xbox Series S, or the lowest version of the Steam Deck.

Overall the Amico seems to be catering to people who may not even want to play games, all with a ton of restrictions that if I were a developer, may not want to deal with, when I could develop for PC, or Switch or console.

Honestly it seems like this game could have used like 6 more months of pre-production, the game technically seems fine, but the design and decisions made seem half baked at best.

The idea that this was originally a mobile game seems right, but still doesn't necessarily explain some of the decisions made.

This has been said to death but they (Nintendo) really screwed up in their wording. If you go back through this conference and replace every time they said "New Controller" with "New Console", it might have been different.

I mean the EA guy mentioned that this was a new console more than Nintendo themselves.
