It's unfortunate that Microsoft backed down because so many gamers want to continue to live in the past. People who don't have high speed internet connection will either have to get an internet connection and join the rest of us in the 21st century, or stay behind and not enjoy games. It is a rather simple trade-off.

/sarcasm Yes because it's that simple to get high speed broadband anywhere in the US, let alone the rest of the world. And who gives a shit about people who don't live in one of the few supported country's, or soldiers on duty god knows where, or sick kids who get their games from charities. They need to quit whining and get with the future! *rolleyes*

Its over, sony is finished xD

And how do you figure? It still more expensive, screws over indie devs, requires kinect, etc. It's a step in the right direction but I'm not going to switch over just because of this.

The damage has already been done to their reputation and relationship to consumers. They have done this not because they respect us and listened to our opinions; they did this because we bit back and bit hard! This was not done out of kindness or generosity...it was MS simply trying to stem the massive blood loss from an artery. Too little too late.

EA isn't so much evil as they are just amazingly stupid. Always online DRM would be bad enough if they could pull it off competently, but its the fact they can't that makes it so much worse.

Honestly i can't understand why this is so hard for (seemingly) every game company. You KNOW there is going to be a huge rush on launch day, and you KNOW how many pre orders there are and can estimate how many more will buy at launch....why is this so freaking difficult?!?

And no, I'm not expecting there to be no issues whatsoever. It just gets me how bad they seem to fumble with this shit when its not like it just snuck up on them at the last minute. Come on!

Always like Luigi better too. He takes a lot of crap for being a coward and slow, when he is just more cautious (because hey maybe blindly rushing into dangerous situations may not be the best idea) and has a good heart. Whenever Mario has needed help or even rescuing himself, Luigi is always there to help his older brother no matter what.

Here's looking forward to a year of more Luigi games ^^

I think that we (gamers and the industry) have done about the best we can to fight back, but no matter what we do it will never go away. The people who paint videogames and gamers as evil aren't going to let a little thing like facts or logic to get in the way, they have an agenda of one sort of another and that's all. No amount of debating or figures or even shouting will shut them up...not for long anyway, Media outlets like Fox don't care about giving news, only getting attention and ratings by scaring the masses of gullible morons.

Maybe in another decade or so videogames will have become such an ingrained part of everyones lives and all the old fogies who want gamers off their lawns have gone that people will realize the truth. Until then all we can do is be heard and keep the few loud (actual) crazies from passing their inane and ineffectual laws.

Play more RE6? Why would anyone want to do that to themselves?

Exactly my thought too. Maybe that's why it's free.

I think if game devs/publishers worried less about piracy and more about making excellent games that are easy to play then piracy wouldn't be (as much of) a problem for them. Right now they are like the Empire from Star Wars, the tighter their grip the more potential sales slip through their fingers by making their products more expensive and bogged down with DRM.

@TheTravis: That's pretty much how I feel. There are other ways to get your indie game out to gamers that are free or much cheaper. While services like Steam and iTunes do offer a much larger consumer base it's not like you have to go through them or not release it at all. And so long as Valve keeps their promise to give the money to charity then I see the benefits far outweigh the negatives. If someone is serious enough to make a good game then coming up with $100 shouldn't be too hard, and if they get approved then they should make it back and then some in no time.

Could they improve the system? Sure. But at least for now I think it's a decent way to cut back on the crap.

Valve I love your game service, but I have long since given up expecting anything else from you. You guys are just a publisher/digital distributor now.
