Vinny's pure joy when he figured out that shot...my god it made my day. It's pure pure joy.

I really never enjoyed playing any of the Mass Effect games, just not my thing despite trying many times, so happy to get to see the story through with Alex and Vinny. Thanks guys!

@mortimer: Yeah, unless something changed in the dungeon after completing the 4 main ones I hadn't seen anything change up gameplay wise in anything meaningful way. The 'numbers going up' feeling kept me going for 8 hours, so I can't say I didn't have a good time with this game, but the sudden burnout I felt was really harsh and I just felt like I had figured out the best loop and was just increasing the numbers on the screen. I think it comes after playing roguelikes like BoI and Spelunky where there was layers of secrets to uncover as you went along (unless I completely missed something). I know Moonlighter is not exactly like these games and I shouldn't expect all roguelike games to have that, but the lack of there being more to the game than the very basic shop-and-dungeon gameplay left me quite cold by the end.

I found the loop in the game got stale around the 3rd dungeon, it very quickly became a grind of returning to the same dungeons to get the rarest items on the 3rd floor to get the most money, repeating this over and over. I will concede this may be because I played the game in 2-3 hour chunks each time, I feel this is a good commute game or just for short sessions. That said, I felt each aspect of the game (inventory management, shop simulator, dungeon crawling) were each too shallow to hold my attention to the end of the game. That said the game's pixel art is really wonderful, with the bosses, in particular, looking really great.

@nevergameover: The last hour of that stream was special. Austin losing it over the plant was wonderful.

Just played this for an hour on my Switch as a break in studying. This seems like something I need right now, pretty basic and charming, seems good for end of the day chilling out. Also the art style is top notch.

GOTY talk is going to be fun this year. Think my favourites at the moment are Zelda, Yakuza Zero, Nier and Edith Finch - Edith Finch probably my fave overall, thought it was something special.

This looks wonderful. As they mention in the video about the new blood coming in, I like how surreal it is looking, and the reference points to older games is really neat. Excitement is on high.
