So, if you've talked to me in the past few months, I've probably hinted at the fact that I was working on something big. In December of 2009 I completed a short musical script titled Code Monkey using the music of Jonathan Coulton and felt like it was a pretty decent piece of theatre. I'd often sit and write a variety of different things like one-acts, comedy sketches and such but I felt like they always became heady and complicated, so with Code Monkey I tried to make it as simple as possible. The story is pretty basic and follows several themes that JoCo uses in his music: low-grade computer programmer hates his job but has a crush on a pretty girl who works in his building. After the pretty girl gets screwed over by the programmer's boss, he sees an opening to make a connection and tries talking to her.

Simple right?

Well what began as a 52 page script whittled down to a 40 page script, until eventually we were left with a 25 page script. It was all about simplifying. What was needed, what wasn't necessary, and so on and so forth. I'm not sure if anyone else here in the GB community likes to write, but if you do then you know how difficult it can be to trim the fat out of your first/second/third drafts of things.

Anyway, that's besides the point. This is the first full-length movie my production company has ever backed so I am pretty excited/anxious/antsy about getting it started. Cameras start rolling on July 11th for 7 full days of principal photography! Working on little to no budget is daunting but we were able to secure a full cast/crew without any headaches, and everyone involved in the project has taken a real shine to JoCo's music. The whole team is committed towards working on this as a pure passion piece. I wish we had the funds to pay for equipment and give people paychecks but we can't. But who knows, the big idea is that hopefully we can get backed by bigger companies so that we can work on bigger and better projects in the future so we will see what happens.

We've been taking turns filming stuff for B-Roll footage and I was able to compile a short behind the scenes reel for our eventual DVD. I thought it'd be fun to share with everyone here, hopefully you all can have fun with the end result as much as we're having fun making it for you.

@jakob187: There's some objectives, they seem like early story objectives with some of the backstory stripped away. It's mostly do whatever you want though.

After playing in 2-player co-op I can say it is better with others, but still not a fully satisfying experience, at least IMO.

Well, it should be known first off that while I really enjoyed Crackdown 1, I don't think I idolized it to the point where others love it. The demo is a 30-minute timed thingie which isn't bad, I've played it twice now. I don't especially like how running into citizens stops you in your tracks, shouldn't you be able to barrel through them? Just seemed odd. I don't know how much I like the new art style either. Maybe it just needs some time to grow on me. Aside from that, it doesn't seem to really build on what the first game did. Granted I didn't do any co-op but the zombies seemed like a lifeless addition (no pun intended). Then again, it was only a demo, I'm sure some fun will be wrought with 4-player co-op. Also, seeing how some parts of the city changed was interesting to see.

I've had the demo since yesterday cause I did some ARG a few weeks ago, so far I am underwhelmed. I think I liked the first one better...

Loyalty isn't an issue here. We aren't necessarily fanboys of the Microsoft platform but we always preferred it after recognizing both consoles' strengths and weaknesses. The fact that a decision like the one they made came so immediately after the announcement was jarring. There was no time for them to think or discuss, they just went along and did it. The original topic of this thread was to figure out if anyone else was finding this happen to them as well. I have no problem for my friends switching consoles other than I find it very premature and shocking that just a few minor exclusives are what drew them to the Ps3 is all.

With all of this being said, I just saw a trailer for the Assassin's Creed multiplayer game. The fact that it is just like a video game version of "Assassins" has me all sorts of happy.

I think MP gaming is the preferred area for me because there's so much that is unknown about how a game will pan out when you're playing live enemies. I always know where a soldier will walk to in MGS, but I have no idea where the next enemy is in a game of CoD or Left 4 Dead. No matter what a suit says at a conference, games will still exist to entertain me, preferred content or otherwise.
