Dyad Review - Remember to Blink 0

It’s not very often that I have to consciously make sure that I’m blinking when playing a video game. Yet that’s Dyad’s claim to fame. Its astounding visual effects combined with its strategic gameplay and surreal background beats meld together to create a completely immersive experience that is easy to pick up, but mind-meltingly hard to master. And that’s important, considering every trophy is hidden behind a stage-specific challenge.Dyad is, essentially, a very unconventional racing game. It ...

Quantum Conundrum Review - Interdimensional Charm 0

Quantum Conundrum stole my heart within 10 minutes. There’s no doubt that it borrows a lot of its structure from Portal, but it brings more than enough new ideas to the table to formulate its own identity that sets it apart from other first-person puzzlers. You play as a 10-year-old silent protagonist who has been shipped off to his mad-scientist uncle—Professor Fitz Quadrangle’s–mansion to visit. Through a series of events, Quadrangle gets himself trapped in a pocket dimension with no way out an...

Spelunky Review – Psychotic Enjoyment 0

I come to you as someone who has not been able to complete Spelunky. I’ve seen the Temple multiple times, but have been swiftly knocked on my ass before walking through that final door. I told myself I need to complete it, but I can’t suffer through this anymore. Spelunky brings out the worst in the gamers, including myself, and forces you change your inpatient habits. It’s an amazing experience with superb controls and extremely tense moments of fear. It’s incredibly rewarding, and evokes a sen...

The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starved For Help Review 0

My biggest worry with The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starving for Help was that it could never live up to how much I enjoyed my time with episode 1. Not only does Starving for Help outdo episode 1 in almost every respect, but it explores areas of a post-apocalyptic world that I’ve never seen before, and evokes genuine emotion at ever corner. Unfortunately, the same technical issues that plagued episode 1 are still present here, in full force.SPOILER ALERT: This review will spoil moments from The Wa...

Spec Ops: The Line Review - Focus on the Mission 0

Story never seems to be the focus of a shooter. Sure it’s there, but it’s not what keeps you going through the experience. You want to shoot more stuff, because it’s fun. Spec Ops: The Line places all of its emphasis on its story. It tries to evoke emotion through difficult decisions and gruesome circumstances, but damns itself by being trapped in its own genre. You play as Walker, part of a Delta force sent into Dubai to evacuate the city after sandstorms and anarchy have turned it to ruins. Mor...
