I think they felt it would be racist to fill Guantanamo Bay with middle eastern people so they filled it with black people...

Those are the palest "black people" I've ever seen in my entire life.

Also, dammit, developers... if you're going to use real world locations and reference current and real-life socio-political issues, maybe you should make the slightest attempt to try to understand, you know, anything that really takes place in the real world.

And if you're trying to make a tired old "ho ho ho it's so fun to pretend to make fun of real-world headlines", you should probably either invent a made-up location which has thinly-veiled analogies in the real world, or just go all-out SUDA51 psycho-nonsense.

You failed at either.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a very solid anime series and probably my favorite, as someone who would give @austin_walker a run for Cyberpunk-genre fanboy-ism. (And as someone who is at almost-Dan-Ryckert levels of anime-avoidance).

The 1996 movie (which I somehow saw in in a full-fledged theatre) is cool, but pretty preachy in the way a way that a lot of 90's anime were -- you know, the whole "What is God?" "What if Man Becomes God?" "Why is Man so Horrible?" "God/Politicians are Therefore Horrible. Let's get Depressed! Wooooo!" line of philosophical thinking.

In regards to the GiTS / anime-cyberpunky shooter...man. NEOTOKYO° has a HELL of a lot more soul than this.

I miss the old office/set; there, I said it. I looks like they broke into the warehouse of a condom manufacturer*

*Yes, I'm well aware they're still getting settled and nothing is finalized yet.

Agreed, but fingers crossed the crew figure it all out. I kind of (foolishly) assumed that GB was financially going well

Why is that a "foolish" assumption? There's no indication (neither before the move, nor currently) that GB is in any kind of financial uncertainty. Like Amyggen said, before hand, they were basically set up in the middle of a hallway, and now they have an actual room. ;)

The MP seems interesting, but I can't over the fact that Ubisoft a) chose to waste Angela Bassett's considerable acting talent to spit out the most generic video-game setup in the history of shooters ("We need to shoot the Bad Guys. Because we are the Good Guys. Any questions? NO QUESTIONS ALLOWED!") and

b)Ubisoft thinks that a glass window is an "Unbreachable Object"

Glass windows, everyone. The strongest substance on the face of the Earth.

Hell of a lot of misinformation going around here, especially with the people making a big deal about the window not breaching.

The charge that was planted on it was a regular one, not a thermite charge, and the window was reinforced using Castle's barricade. The regular charge would have breached it normally, had Mute not placed a jammer next to the barricade, which rendered useless both the charge and Fuze's cluster grenade that gets planted after. This really highlights where the game shines - the synergy in using two or more operators together. As a counter to that situation, Austin, as Sledge, could have used his hammer to knock through Castle's barricade.

Except... I was talking about the early vide o when Austin was showing the hostage-rescue single-playercontent, where there were no unique abilities standing between Austin's breaching charge and the impenetrable diamond-illium window.

Holy shit your character is 9 feet tall, judging from how the player's POV is scraping along the the ceiling in every room.

Also, the writing in this game was some poorly punctuated fan-fiction-quality stuff.

Maybe it's my old-man eyes, but this looks like "Hyper-Seizure-Flashy-Screen: The Game". I guess it's good that your shots can "block" at least some of the enemy shots, because the enemy shots aren't distinct enough from your own to actually, you know, dodge them.

That said, the movement is as smooth as butter. That looks good. But yes, $60 seems a really high asking price -- $30-ish would seem much more reasonable (and it's weird that a lot of gamers seem to mention $15 as the only alternative to the $60 price point).

Spaz isn't an offensive term in America? It definitely is in Canada (although I believe it's spelled with an s, not a z). It's similar to calling someone a "retard" up here.

It has a milder connotation in the US, where it generally means something more like "annoyingly hyperactive", without necessarily implying actual mental issues. That said, it was definitely a mid-late 90s term. :b

this game seems like some obscure PS1 title you'd find in a flee market

Is a "Flee Market" a market that sells cheesy horror-movie props? ;)

But yeah, this game. Even the screen grab looks like someone Photoshopped a golf club into a generic anime-robot's hands, and then Photoshopped THAT onto an aircraft-carrier model from 1942: Joint Strike.

Still, good on 'em for going all the way with the concept.

EDIT: Sooooooo Playstation VR is the new XBox Kinect?
