I don't currently own a switch, but I think I will get the light as a replacement for my Vita, just something to play indie games on when I need to be portable. I am a bit concerned about all the talk of games that don't run as well on the switch (Dead Cells...) but I will still probably buy one at some point. For my use case, the light seems more appealing than the regular.

I have never beaten a Mario game and have only played a portion of the first Zelda.

Why no Bushido Blade?? There shouldn't be any licensing issues that I know of and I feel that it is iconic, or at least still gets mentioned.

IDK, it isn't like I was going to buy the thing even if my choice of game was included. I have a working PSOne and a clean disc, and that is WAY cooler than this mini nostalgia play.

@rethla: I had a weird arc with 3 where at first, I hated the combat but the story kept me enthralled, and by the end I hated the story and was in it only for the combat (which I learned to love.) I have though about trying previous games, but haven't yet. How do you think 1 holds up?

For me it is Dark Souls 2. Granted, I am playing it in 2018 and the Scholar of the First Sin version, so I don't know what it was like at release, but I think it is a step forward on the formula in most ways. I think that consumable healing items and bonfire ascetics are a welcome addition and the enemy de-spawns can make it a better game. If I had been forced to make the run back to Lud & Zallen more than a few times, I never would have finished, but by changing tack and wiping enemies a few at a time, I was able to mete out my frustration on an achievable goal. That being said, I am now doing a "genocide" run and have mixed feelings. I am constantly learning new ways to get better as a player as fighting the same "trash" enemy 12 times teaches you techniques that you can just brute force if only doing it once. On the other hand, clearing the stage before the boss is like easy mode. You are never outside of your comfort zone if you do the levels one section at a time.

TL;DR- DS2 is great and I do not understand the hate.

@lylebot : There are people that think MGS3 is better than 2!? They are wrong.

@theht:Thanks for the reply. I played most of those games, but waited for them to go on sale. This time I jumped in early. I hear you about "less than ideal" PCs. I have always been a fan of buying PC parts a generation or two behind, when they get cheap. This rig is just under the specs for Doom, so I skipped that game, but it more than meets the reqs for NMS. I don't think I've ever played a game on 'ultra' settings.

@frytup: I deleted and reinstalled for the fourth time today, but no dice. Thanks for the help, though. I'll wait it out for a week or so and see how it goes. It may be my old hdd or something, idk. No worries though, if it doesn't get better after a week or two I will probably get a refund and try my luck on the PC port of God Eater 2.

Until a few days ago, I had no interest in actually playing No Man's Sky. I enjoyed hearing the tale of its creation and wished the developers luck, but it didn't seem like my kind of game. I watched Alex's quick look expecting to have multiple tabs opened and give it only intermittent attention, but I was immediately hooked. I got extremely hyped and bought the game on Steam before I even finished the quicklook. I became somewhat obsessed and watched many hours of gameplay on Twitch while waiting for the PC release. I even happened to have a day off on the release day! I got even more hyped.

That brings us to the topic at hand. I have never been through a launch day debacle. So far, the most I have seen of NMS is a Hello Games logo before Windows informs me that the program has stopped working. I am not throwing blame or writing negative reviews (though I have read many.) I am willing to wait and see before requesting a refund, but I was wholly unprepared for how this might hit me. I have spent the past four hours reading Twitch chats and combing forums and Twitter like a madman for any kind of fix to no avail. I am disappointed in myself, in my purchase, and in wasting a day off.

That is all I really wanted to say. Have any of you had similar experiences? Has it changed the way you buy games? Is PS4 actually the master race?
