After watching this I bought the game and played it for like 5 hours straight. I tried the RT for shoot for a while, but I ended up switching it to X. It just felt a little more comfortable.

the answers you give to the questions you get asked in the beginning of the game determine what time of day your adventure begins. The time of day determines the speed at which you level up through the game. Dawn means you level up quick in early game and extra slow late game. Midday you level up at average speed through the whole game and Dusk you level up slower in early game and quicker in late game.
