  • Holy crap this is a great metroidvania, this plays and looks so good! Only minor gripe is it's a little too detailed and lush at times and some things blend in a little more than I'd prefer. The music and sound design is fantastic too, what a wonderful ambiance this game has.

Strangely as it goes the art is still beautiful but sometimes it's so gross it really puts me off in a handful of times.

This game is great for the most part but I found the trial and error style chase sequences extremely annoying. Most times I died it wasn't because of a failure to perform it was just because there was no way to predict exactly which direction they'd like you to go or when, these sequences were very arbitrary and totally at odds with the rest of the game. The difficulty spikes for the boss fights were also strange, not too difficult just so much more demanding than the rest of the game that it was puzzling. I either wish the boss difficulty were easier and more in line with the rest of the game, or the rest of the game was more difficult so things didn't seem so abrupt.

  • Very interesting game, almost like a modern b game, thankful to be playing an old school style horror game in 2021 but it also makes me appreciate the classics in some design ways that I didn't realize. The camera placement can leave something to be desired compared to the Resident Evil's and Silent Hill's that came before. In The Medium there are a enough areas where I'd expect to walk towards the camera and then have it transition to show me an opposite angle and it almost never does and it's quite unsatisfying, leaving you feeling like there's a sort of off limits no mans land in some of the areas. Many off-putting times where it feels like there are too many invisible walls. It's also got some of those hallmark B game moments where you end up abruptly dying for no apparent reason and having to reload at poor checkpoints.

But still though! I'm digging it and it's starting to get even cooler and I appreciate what it's doing. I am a little bummed though that I enjoy the design of the regular world more than the alternate world, the alternate world has some cool sections but it's also a bit on the bland and monochromatic side. I could easily see this being the result of production limitations of a smaller studio effectively having to design two versions of each environment though and I am understanding of that.

Beat the game and all I can say is what an overall disappointment. I wanted to like this so much more than I ended up. I really want Bloober to have another go at a fixed camera game but with some added finesse and fixes. (Also please give me a tank controls option)

  • Finishing up this game is super fun! Love the time trials and I'm pretty impressed with variety of the platforming and special equipment. A handful of levels have pretty awful camera perspectives that really make depth perception frustrating at times, it's a shame because without that it'd be close to perfect. In those offending levels it'd be nice if the hitboxes for collecting certain things was a little larger and more forgiving to accommodate for the camera.

  • Easily one of my favorite RPGs. It's gorgeous and I love the combat system as much as the out of combat systems. Very intelligent design. The way you can choose your own path through the narratives and overworld is very satisfying.

  • This is a blast in coop. Pixel toad is a son ofa bitch.

  • Playing through the Ancient Gods DLC has been quite the wild ride. It's so demanding but beating each gauntlet is very satisfying. The levels are gorgeous and the story sequences are ridiculous and fun.

  • The true game of the year. It's still so good but the Cold War updates have not panned out yet. The map changes so far are quite lame but Rebirth Island is still neat at least.

  • What a good Metroid game. Leads you more by the hand but in a way that I am appreciating.

  • Bowser's Fury was great fun with a partner and it has been an absolute blast to play Mario 3D World with the family.

  • his is the first time I've replayed this horror masterpiece in a decade. The PC Enhanced Edition is an absolute treat. What an incredible fanbase. The gameplay really doesn't hold up well now but the story and Environment still work really well. Playing The Medium is what pushed me to revisit this and it cemented my feelings that SH2 still did many of those things better so many years ago, that's a little unfair maybe but it was important for me to find out for myself.

  • Been having a lot of fun jumping back into the adventure mode and bashing my head against ridiculous set ups and unlocking all the characters.
