Looks like they've updated the credit payout for Horde. Any horde players out there notice a difference? There might be another Double XP weekend, too.
We have pushed out a change to Gears 4 this evening that affects the credit and XP earn rates in Gears of War 4 Horde modes (Public and Private matches). Below is a rundown of what to expect:
Credit earn rates have increase across all difficulties. Players can expect to earn more credits in Horde mode now.
We have shifted total credit earn rates to tie a bit more in with finishing the waves and less on finishing consecutive waves. This is to help players not feel as if they are being punished for trying higher difficulties and not always making it to 50.
We have also increased the Level XP earn rate on classes.
We are still looking at other changes for the future but wanted to get this update out before the weekend.
As a vegetarian who tries (poorly) to avoid cheese, I've never found a good reason to remove eggs from my diet (as long as you know the source, of course). They definitely come out of the butthole region of a chicken, though. Getting rid of honey seems like a stretch too, unless it's harming the bee colony in some way.
@drgreatjob: Ok, at least I know where you're coming from. I don't think any of those games control better or have better mechanics than Gears, but to each their own. Some of those (MGS and Hitman) I wouldn't even lump into the TPS genre.
Gears has evolved quite a bit throughout the games if you look beyond the surface, but it still has a solid gameplay loop that hasn't been surpassed (speaking about the multiplayer specifically here). Tomb Raider, Uncharted and Last of Us might have tried to build on the cover shooter mechanics, but it's obvious why those games don't support a multiplayer community the way Gears does.
Vanquish might be the closest contender for me in the fluid controls and deep mechanics department.
@three0nefive: Oh I fully realize Gears is not your typical shooter in this regard. Of course a twitchy shooter like Overwatch is going to better with a mouse. I was simply pointing out the movement mechanics in Gears are tuned for a controller and would seem awkward (to me) with a keyboard.
I thought the same for about one minute until I played with the KB/Mouse... and it was unbelievably easier to control, and especially, HEADSHOT! I couldn't imagine a sniper in Horde is going to be nearly as effective with a controller.
I'd also guess that since the hardcore MP Gears fanbase has always been stuck with a controller until now, that it would seem like controller would be competitive for a while - until the KB/Mouse players get a bit of a handle on how things work, then it'll be over for competitive players using a controller.
Yeah, popping heads with the sniper or Embar must be really easy with a mouse, but I already find it really easy to get headshots with an analog stick. I think it must be my 10 year bias of playing Gears on a console and because the community has always formed around the Xbox version.
Seriously, some of the pro players have insane movement (look up J_Ribs or ToySxldier of team nV if you're curious).

Playing the game with Xbox owners should be an option. Why not just go all the way if you put crossplay into your game? I've been playing with a controller on PC and I had no troubles beating keyboard and mouse players.
This.
I've been using a controller on PC as well and haven't had any issues. People have really been exaggerating how much of a disadvantage that console players would be at against PC players. They should at the very least add this option to the social quick play playlist to increase the already low player count.
Especially for a game like Gears. I'd even say the mouse & keyboard players would be at the greater disadvantage due to the nature of movement in multiplayer. I haven't seen any really good players on keyboard wall bounce and outmaneuver someone like you can with a gamepad, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.
I think they should just say fuck it and add a social cross-play playlist, otherwise that game is dead on PC just like the other Gears titles.
