Tablets, the eternal struggle.

So... the iPad comes out, and as with it seems to be the case with every Apple product, everybody hates it, and (by the sales numbers) everybody loves it.
So it doesn't have multitasking, it doesn't have Flash support, it doesn't have USB ports, it doesn't have cameras, and it's Apple. Those are all valid reasons to dislike the device.
But here i am, in bed with my notebook, trying to read a magazine (pdf, of course), and i realized that a tablet could do the job. Then, i looked into it, and found Sketchbook Pro, Brushes and Art Studio, and saw what can be done with those (i'm a graphic designer and wannabe artist). Then i found books on the store that cannot be bought here in Argentina, and realized i could be paying Marvel for comics and reading more comfortably. And i could be playing Monkey Island or Sam and Max for an hour before going to bed.

So i begin looking for an alternative. After all, how can i live without flash support, usb ports, cameras and multitasking? And i found the Galaxy tab. A great piece of tech, that has 3G, 2 cameras, flash support and Android. GREAT. But i don't want 3G. No WiFi only tablet? Shame. And the price? Even higher that the iPad? And a smaller screen? I wanna draw in it. The 9" screen is great for that.
Now BlackBerry has one of their own. Again small screen, and a lot of features i won't be using. And the price... well...who knows.

I really don't consider these devices "portable". Nobody is gonna be in the middle of the park with one of these. Or walking down the street. That's what your phone is for, if you need it.

I think i don't mind giving up on flash (i hate flash), the cameras (i don't plan on using those anyway) or the USB ports. I like the bigger screen. I like the support from third parties (Sketchbook pro 8 bucks?).  I think there are things to say against the iPad, but the advantages are essential to me. And i can get one now for 750 dollars. How much will the Samsung or Blackberry be?

Every game should have a little attention

I live in Argentina, and here, as in many countries around the world, soccer is a big thing. A REALLY big thing. People here buy game systems JUST to play soccer games. There was a time when Pro Evolution Soccer was the king, those glorious PS2 days. But now, with the next/current gen consoles, FIFA has taken the lead.
Where's all this going? Well, I'm a regular Giant Bomb user and a recent subscriber (i wrote a blog post about how i cared for the site, not the features), but i couldn't find no even ONE video of the game.  I then said "well, GB is an US site, they don't care for this kind of games, these are hardcore gamers with no interest in sport games. I cannot expect to find a video of a game that the audience won't care about". But then i found videos of Wii Party and LEGO Harry Potter
So, my question is: Can the site have a little more variety? I'm not asking you to talk about the game, really. But if the deal is "yeah... about that game... why don't you go find it somewhere else?", i don't like it.

I may sound like a cry baby, but here we are waiting for the demo like crazy, and this just hit me.

My insight on the subscription issue

I have to say i saw this one coming. Being independent is hard, and trying to keep something fresh and "clean" is even harder.
I'm ok with paying 5 bucks a month (i won't go for the yearly...it's a lot of money in one shot). I'm lucky to have a job (several, actually), and these guys have been making those easier by offering quality entertainment for free. I think it's time to give something back.
I really don't care for the features, really. I mean, i don't have a smartphone (or even a dumb one), so the mobile site makes no difference. I won't be downloading any of the HD videos, because i'm not used to download anything really, that's what streaming is for. I could live with a splitted podcast, and i really don't know if the time zone will let me even watch the live show. I'm not sure i agree with ads for the monthly subscribers and not the yearly, but AdBlock has been disabled on the site from the beginning... bring the ads.
The way i see it, it's a job they are doing, and some may say "well, they play videogames", but it's never that easy (i work in a place where i'm around videogames all the time and it's no walk in the park), so if they provide a service, they should be paid. And if the service is THIS GOOD... well, you get the point.

And to think that it doesn't apply to GB alone, but to the other sites (specially Tested, which i got used to visit everyday now... those guys are a real dynamic duo), makes it even better. I'm not familiar with CV, SC or AV, but from what i saw yesterday, they are all really cool guys... (and Babs... love!).

So (even though GB still won't accept my money) i'm gonna support the site, and will be happy to.

They've been there for me in those long bus rides, i'm here for them.

Starcraft 2 and the limited cdkey

I live in Argentina, and even though i'm not a RTS player, forum members are convincing me unintencionally.
What i find funny is that if i go and buy my copy in the store and pay the 140 pesos (35 dollars aprox.), i buy a product that is good for 6 months, and then, if i wanna continue playing, i have to pay another 150p to Blizzard (37,5 dollars). So the game, here in Argentina is over 70 bucks.
What's the deal with that?
And, even better (irony spotted), if i want to play with my friends, i have to select the LATAM servers, and if i do that, i cannot have the game with the original audio. But if i wanna hear the game in english, i cannot play with the people i know.

Kind of weird, isn´t it?

Rated N for NO TIME!

I've had my PS3 for 8 months now. I haven't been able to finish more than 2 games.
I really don't have a lot of time to play. Between my job, school, my wife and social life, it's not easy to find long stretches of time to do some gaming. And, when i throw Steam into that mess, i have a lot more games that time to play them.
I'm now playing inFamous, going for 100% on the good ending. And i have a pile that includes Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet and Batman AA. I don't like rushing games, i'm the collector type, so i need all the blast shards, and the treasures and whatever thing is hidden in the map. I realized i cannot have it all (and i just bought Tales of Monkey Island on steam sale... ), so I'm not buying anymore games for the rest of the year. I'll save some money for 2011, a really packed year, with Team Ico, inFamous, Killzone, Batman... There are some games i'd like to play, like DeadSpace, or Bioshock. But i don't think i'll make it. And i don't even dream of trying something like DragonAge, which i know i would enjoy, but i cannot put 50 hours in one game.

I don't know how people manage to play everything that comes out. I certanly cannot.

Red Dead Redemption is broken

So I'm just writing this to get the achivement. But as a matter of fact, I have something to say:
F YOU ROCKSTAR. I got RDR, and it freezes on my PS3. I don't care you use 360 as your main platform and PS3´s version is inferior, but make it work at least. The funny thing is I send them an email, and they say "replace the disc", i do, the problem continues, i write again and they say "contact sony". Just take responsability.
And they announce a patch coming, and it says nothing about the freezing issues, it addresses the multiplayer, but not the single player.

I've read people had their system broke because of this game. If mine brakes, is R* paying for it?

The ten minutes I was able to play, i had a blast... i wish they fix it.
