Damn you Amazon and Royal Mail

I ordered Mirrors Edge last week only to have it returned to Amazon when the courier Home Delivery decided they wouldn’t be able to deliver to my flat. Apparently they are unable to deliver packages to people who live in a flat and work Monday to Friday. They don't work Saturdays, require a signature and are unable to change the delivery address due to security issues. My only option was to drive forty/fifty miles to their depot in Hull. Pass! Would be quicker to go to HMV in town.

Now, I was really looking forward to once again picking up this unique and vivid first-person running game. Not sure my description really does it justice and it seems a lot of people struggled with the concept of a FPS with very little 'S' but having borrowed it from a friend several months ago thought it was both refreshing and exhilarating.

Right. Second attempt. This time I went for a strategic/sneaky option and placed and order aiming for a Saturday delivery. All seems to be in vein, however, as this time I'm thwarted by Royal Mail and their disgruntled staff. Estimated delivery date: a week today! I can't cancel it either as the "Item is despatching soon."

I probably should have learnt something from this. Maybe, don't be lazy or support struggling high street stores.  Or possibly even don't trust online shops and the postal service. Truth is though I would, and no doubt will, go through all this again next week all to save a couple of quid and avoid getting off my arse.

There’s really no one to blame but myself but I’m going to blame somebody else anyway. So thank you Amazon and Royal Mail for ruining my weekend running around a ‘dystopian’ future performing kung-fu on hapless cops and jumping off cranes.
