Any time someone wants to check what turn they're on, everyone must first guess the turn number. Those whose guess was furthest away from the actual turn have to drink.

Vinny appeared on a Waypoint stream and one of Abby's streams last week and mentioned he would be starting streaming again the following week (i.e. this week). He was also weird about specifying people not to follow his Twitch account but to check Twitter for details on where he would be streaming - so I was expecting some announcement of creating some brand. I wasn't expecting both Alex and Brad to also be part of it though, so that's a nice surprise.

I just watched Danny's NoClip Patreon Update video released on Friday where he talks about his work at Giant Bomb for part of it. Here's a summary of what he said:

Danny was appearing on the Bombcast temporarily for free because it was fun. The hours he would spend at Giant Bomb was his free time outside of NoClip. He's been in conversation with Jeff Gerstmann and Jeff Bakalar about his involvement with the site in the short and long term because he needs to be aware that anything he does adjacent to games could affect his energy and inspiration for working at NoClip (he doesn't want to get burnt out). NoClip is still his focus, he loves it and hopes to continue building it for the next few decades if possible. That said, he's a big fan of Giant Bomb and the staff there, and wants to help them out during a tough time. Also, changes to how his NoClip business is run means he actually has more free time to try things.

He hasn't settled on a decision of how much his work at Giant Bomb will expand, but he'd like to try making videos that he's wanted to do for years but either didn't get around to at GameSpot or that didn't fit with the aims of NoClip. He currently spends 3-4 hours a week of his free time on Giant Bomb per week. This is on the bombcast and checking out a few games beforehand. He's thinking about increasing up to maybe 8 hours of work a week and formally becoming a contractor (so he will actually get paid).

I was unsure if he meant the upcoming E3 this year, or E3's in general (post the pandemic) but... he says Giant Bomb already had some interesting plans for E3 which has fallen to the wayside now (especially with Alex, who traditionally organizes guests, leaving). So Danny's looking into how Giant Bomb and NoClip could potentially work together to bring some of those ideas to fruition.

He frequently stresses that he doesn't work for Giant Bomb, and he's just talking about his own experience from the view of how it affects his NoClip work (with the aim is that it doesn't - i.e. those who don't care for the site and didn't realise he's been appearing on the Bombcast recently should continue to not notice anything different).

[Edited for grammatical clarity]

I just noticed that no host has ever left the site whose name begins with a J: Jeff, Jason, Jan (Jeff Backalar too)... Is there some hidden conspiracy at play to rename the site Jiant Bomb?!

Alas, it is a shame so many great folks have other letters to start their names: it's sad to see them go, however it seems the J-prophecy cannot be stopped (even for those who've been fighting it for over a decade).

I hope it's a positive change for them all. Sure it's sad as a viewer to see them go but it must be extremely scary for them to leave a job they've all been in for over a decade. I wish them all the best.

Amazing work, I can't wait for 2007. I genuinely like how you even made a reflection of the controller. ASCII art is so cool (reminds me of looking up walkthroughs for PS2 games).

Sorry ZP that your 2020 was further tainted by this game.

Here's my experience of FFXI: my family had recently got an Xbox 360. As you said, the game didn't come out in Europe on the PS2, so this was the first opportunity I had to play it. My Dad bought me the game as I was super excited to try it (and it had 1 month free with it) so I put the disk in and installed it. It took all afternoon to try to start the game dealing with PlayOnline and all that but I got in. I made a character and was completely overwhelmed by the information dump (without any significant story) but I managed to get in a fight which was extremely boring... then the game crashed.

I cried.
